depressed bunny????
I seem to be posting loads here lately! I have a question......
When I rehomed Faline, she was part of a large group of rabbits that ran freerange in the large front garden and lived in the garage at night. Her and a rex called Hazel, were being bullied by the other rabbits so the owner wanted to rehome them.
Faline seems a bit depressed. Could this be because she misses her friend Hazel? Or could it be the change of environment and the fact I couldn't let he go free range as she's be eaten by fox (seriously...... we live on the back of a wood and foxes trot about in broad daylight). She has been allowed to roam our large living room and dining room, but she just hid under the sofa and I had a hell of a job trying to catch her again! She does have a run attached so she's not couped up all day.
Should I go and get her buddy Hazel? Wouldn't the bond be broken now (4 days) help!!!!

I think it is just a new environment, she just needs to get used to it. But if u really wanna go and get Hazel then go ahead.

Re: depressed bunny????
Gosh i dont know. I know that when bunnies bond it isnt fair to separate them normally. I expect that hazel is missing her too - especially if she is bullied by the other buns and now without her friend.
I would never want to tell anyone what to do because to go from one bun to three is a big step....but I think I wouldnt be able to resist getting her.
I dont know a lot about bonding thats the problem - so my advice comes from the heart rather than the head hun.

Re: depressed bunny????
Oh I don't know what to do! I originally went to get Hazel but then I saw Faline so I took her home instead as sheis the same age as Vince. I was a little worried that Hazel may be more dominant (she is 3) and that she may clash with Vince? When I got home I felt really bad that i'd split a pair to make a pair for my lone bun
I just want to do the right thing.

Re: depressed bunny????
I'd go back and get her. I bonded a six of varied ages and it was fine. I now have a trio - again with one much older than the other two - and they all love each other.
I'd hate to split any of my bonded buns - I think they would be heartbroken.

Re: depressed bunny????
I've just text the lady to see if Hazel is still there. Do you think the bond will still be there or will I have to start again?
Should I bond all 3 at the same time????
