Re: Hazels spey today!
The vet looked at her privates and said he is going to try and fix it for as it is still has an open wound. She has kept it clean and I've checked it each day to make sure it wasn't becoming infected. He said she will probably need further antibiotics. I reckon he'll put some stitches in for her as it is quite open still. Poor little thing.

Re: Hazels spey today!
Well hubby collected her from the vets and she was a bit woozy and wobbly but she ate some dandelion leaves earlier and nibbled on some freshly picked grass. Honestly, that bunny could experience a neclear blast, abduction by ufo's, a sex change and experience one of my sister's dog's killer farts and STILL not be put off her food
She has some baytril that I have to give her for the next 6 days due to her op and the previous injury, the vet said her privates will get better soon. I'll keep an eye on her just to be sure.
Thanks for all your vibes and well wishes.

I had one of those buns!
I'm so glad she's responding and been ok. Since you joined, I feel like I've learned so much from your experiences, it's been quite an eye-opener! Give her a cuddle from us

Re: Hazels spey today!
Hazel update:
She isn't very well. Will only eat a few dandelion leaves if I waft them under her nose and she is sucking in her sides. She doesn't look at all right to me. She's going back to the vets tonight.

Re: Hazels spey today!
Oh dear, these ops can be traumatic - she'll need some gut stimulant, and perhaps another look at her privates. Will be keeping you both in my thoughts, keep us posted .

Re: Hazels spey today!
Try waving the food in her face and really annoyng her. It might make her snatch at the food. I have had to do that with Gloria a few times when she goes on strike.
Definitely think a trip to the vet is needed too.

My bunnies are little piggies when it comes to food. They love cabbage, broccoli & carrot tops and they love that Excel hay & Excel rabbit nuggets.

Re: Hazels spey today!
Well the vet said that some rabbits take longer to get over operations than others, he gave her some more painkillers and said they would take about 2 hrs to work. Hazel has been nibbling on some dandelion leaves again and was then munching on the cardboard box that she is sleeping in in the dinning room, so I put some of her nuggets in there and she ate one of those instead.
I let Faline in the dinning room so she could say hello to Hazel, Faline started eating the dandelion leaves too through the bars of the pen Hazel is in! It's usually Hazel that's the greedy guts!
She does look a bit better now, her insides aren't sucked in anymore and she has moved around. I feel a bit mean putting her through the op but I know I'm protecting her from utrine cancer so I'ts the right thing to have done.
Thanks for all your replies

Re: Hazels spey today!
Sorry to hear she has been a bit poorly after her op. Sometimes it can take a couple of days for them to get over it. But you're right - it's important for them to be spayed.
Sending her lots and lots of vibes. x

Re: Hazels spey today!
Oh no...sorry to hear that she wasn't doing to great. I had some problems with Luna after her speying and she was a terror to give the anti biotics too! And after all that she had an issue with drinking from her water bottle...she's only just started using one again!
Neway, I hope she perks up again soon....must be very painful for their tiny bodies to go through that, bless her. And I understand your guilt, but your doing it for the right reasons ..
Good luck with her recovery

Re: Hazels spey today!
Hiya
Hazel is doing much better now, she has even been eating her proper food although she's not too keen on the anti biotics so I tempted her by putting it on some shreddies cereal. I know I'm not supposed to give her cereal but I really need her totake the medicine so she will heal better. Hopefully she can go outside for a bit tmrw for a stretch of her legs
Velvet tears - I thought your post was fine
