Velvet was an uninformed suprise rescue.

We collected a large hutch from sheffield on the 30th of october.
When the couple opend their back gate i saw a beautiful rex bun free ranging the garden. After talking for a while it turned out that they wanted to rehome her because the lady had a bad allergy to her.

Ofcourse we agreed to take her with us... She wasnt very tame with the couple but is fine with us.

Im in love and gosh i wish we could keep her! She has blue eyes just like me!

She does have several issues. Included a bumblefoot type infection that she has have for over a year. However she is now receiving treatment for both problems and once fit and healthy will be rehomed Smile

Her nails will need to be trimmed back slowly as they bleed alot Sad

Her sore feet Sad

Beautiful velvet

She is currently being treated with hibiscrub on her feet, she doesnt mind when i do it. She has had a mite injection and i just need to rub off the dead skin, she looks much better now Smile

Hopefully she will be fit and ready very soon to join a new family Smile

Those are nasty sore hocks! How deep do the wounds go? She's a lucky bun as left untreated they can be fatal if they start to abscess into osteomyelitis.

Sheffield is my end of the woods, once upon a time she may have ended up with us. Poor wee girl.

Here's hoping they clear up quickly.

Just a quick update, busy busy

These were taken two days after treatment started.

They look much better than these pictures now, but unable to use the camera at the moment.
She refuses to have bedding in her hutch so we are unable to have a soft area for her. She does not seem botherd by this and its not causing her feet any problems i suppose so i shouldnt be too worried... yet i still am Rolling Eyes She knocks one of her feet and it bleeds... ive wonderd about trying to make some sort of sock for her but im worried that they would just stick to her feet so when i do her hibi treatment it would just pull the wound open again, anyone any ideas?

I have a bit od advice for those hocks. When my Stacey had her sore hocks I found the normal sawdust made them worse because it is rough so I used the sawdust dust bedding and that worked wonders on her paws, it helped so much!!! I also tried white cotton baby socks but she didn't keep them on.

Thank you, the problem with her and admitidly 4 other buns is that they kick all bedding out and just lay on the base of the hutch, so the bedding isnt really an issue.

She is also a nightmare diet wise... refuses nuggets of any kind but will eat mix (selectivly ofcourse....)
