Bunny on his own
Am I cruel to keep Basil on his own? He gets lots of attention, plays with Sam the dog, comes in the house, kitchen and living room I often sit with him outside even when cold with my coat on. He has a large play area and the outside light is left on so I can see him from the patio windows. He only gets put in his cage with run attached when I go to bed or if I leave the house. His cage is cleaned completely every day with him trying to help ie into everything and knocking things over.
I'm really worried, am I a selfish mum!

Re: Bunny on his own
Hey sweetie, I think a single bun can be very happy if they receive alot of stimulation and attention. If single buns are bought and kept in the bottom of the garden in a hutch and never bothered with, then there is a real problem. I wouldn't feel guilty hun. I think Basil seems to be a very happy bunny.
Re: Bunny on his own
As long as they have plenty to do and gets lots of attention I think its fine hun

Re: Bunny on his own
I'm now on my second single house bunny, and I know how you feel. I was tormented throughout most of my last ones life, as to whether he needed a friend, but really, he was a very happy bunny, and like yours, got lots of attention and love. You can tell if your bun's happy, and if he is, then it may upset things to bring another bun into his domain.
It is a generalisation that all buns should be paired, but a good one, and mainly true, however, there are exceptions, and each bun is different.
You know Basil, and you'd know if he was lonely He is such a sweet bun

Re: Bunny on his own
Phew thats good news.
Basil is kept just outside my kitchen door, so he is never forgotton about, sometimes I can tell he just wants to be on his own chilling but when he wants to play he looks at us through the window and then I let him in, in summer the back door is open all the time. I have a baby gate I use for when i'm ironing and cooking etc. He does seem to be very happy and healthy, buzzes all the time.
