oo you spoilt boy!

He has been eating more and more plantain lately, as each time i go to the food box he gets so excited I cant help but pop some in his little bowl......

But he should be eating his hay, and not replacing it with plantain, so today I gave him the smallest amount in his little dish and left him to it.

When I came home at lunchtime I was greeted by a little bunny sitting by his food box. So I gave him a nose rub and went to fix some lunch.

First he starts ringing his breakfast bell......so he gets a head scratch, then he starts throwing his bowl around...and throws it again...and again. So I go to give him head scratches, and he stamps at me....twice!! He then turns his back on me with his nose in the air and then goes to sulk under his sofa. I dont think I have ever seen a more grumpy looking bunny, when I dared to peek under!

Katie he is clearly deprived, you're so mean to him...

Is this dreid plantain? Where do you get this food of wonder? I have tried mine with Banana, fresh, Rory quite likes it but not the girls - I wanted them to have a bit as its supposed to be good for rabbits prone to sticky butts, which they are - aparently!

We have dried Plantain and Dandelion you can buy it in some big pet stores and garden centres that have a pet foods part we get our's from 'The Hay Experts' our buns love it, I think I may have a go at growing it as they sell Plantain seed's, I got my Dandelion seed's from there and I have thriving fresh dandelion leaves now

im vouching for plantain too lol. Marshall really likes it as a treat mixed with his hay ....maybe if you did that Katie he would eat some hay as hes searching for plantain?

I spotted some plantains that were ripe today and have picked some for their seed heads for you. Will bring them down with me.

Wish Lil Loll would eat plantain. Which are you feeding, the long, thin leafed variety or the rounded leaf?
Loll can't be bothered with long sulks (unless its after a vet visit), generally if he's got the hump he just growls and clears off behind my desk. He's a very independant buck. Clawed could sulk, boy could she sulk. The turned back, nose in the air and the "see if I give a damn" look were quite routine with her. Generally it was because I didn't complie with her wishes.

He doesnt like the fresh stuff - will only eat it dried - little devil.

Clawed sounds like she was such a big personality and Lil Lol such a cheeky boy!

She was the inspiation for GOLDEN DAYS, the postal rabbit group I ran from '01 to '09. She was my first bun and, along with collie Misty, she save my life and my sanity during the worse time in my life. I think because there was just the three of us 24-7 we formed such an incredibly deep bond that in my ways transcended the usual human/animal bond. There was definitely a form of telepathic communication between us.
Lil Loll is a grand chap, I love him, of course I do but he's not Clawed! There will never be another Clawed! Loll is cheeky, cute and does some amazing things like carrying his food from the dining room onto the hearth rug in the sittingroom, but he is independant ... sometimes to the point of aloofness. AND HE'S PICKY. I shall have to see if my local pet store can get me some dried plantain... anything to add some variety to his diet. If he's not sick of it I AM!

Sounds like what you had was very very special, you must miss her terribly x
