Cut on his side? Empty Cut on his side?

Post by Karen1980 Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:58 am

Milo I noticed has a scab on his side a few days ago but the fur was covered and it seemed fine and just a hard scab so I thought it was okay.

Came home last night and it seems he's been irritated by it and chewed his fur and part of the scab off.

Im worried its not going to heal.

I vet wrapped him last night so he cannnot pull at the scab.

Do you think thats okay or pop him to the vets as well.

He seems fine but im pretty sure cuts that struggle to heal are bad for bunnies.

Just seen this hun, did you manage to get to the vets? If mine get wounds like that my vet always advises to wash them with salt water and to keep taking the scab away as the scabs can actually trap infection.

Usually it's the depth that makes it a infection risk, if it's pretty superficial a good wash with warm salt water twice a day is usually sufficient to keep it clean. Deeper cuts that go off at an angle are the ones prone to trapping pockets of bacteria that can develop into a an abscess.
