Found Helen on her side again :-(
Mikes just had to get Helen up as she had toppled over again, this has happened four times now since she lost Baby Saint and we are now thinking it's part of her e.cuniculi and has been brought on by the stress of losing her. There is always someone here to get her back up but we are so worried that this will happen during the night and she will not be able to get up and have a heart attack
We are now thinking what can we do apart from putting sausage like draught excluders round her pen that June (Littleboots) has kindly made her.
It's such a worry.

Do you have any quiet buns who could potentially be a cushion for her? Or do you think it may be too stressful for her?

Re: Found Helen on her side again :-(
Oh dear, poor Helen
As you know I fall over quite a bit but I can get up again. Humum got me one of those side-support beds as well an an ugli donut in the hope they may help support me when I am sleeping. Needless to say, I've hardly been near either yet
Do you get the impression that it's when she is sleeping that she topples? That's what happens to me, mostly.
I can't help but think that perhaps a companion is the best answer, although I know it would be quite a difficult process with Helen and need some careful thought. I wonder if there might be a gentle little reduced-mobility guy out there for her...

Re: Found Helen on her side again :-(
I don't think she would take to another bun as she can be quite aggressive and we are worried that the stress of bonding her will be to much, she is not great on her feet now and we also don't really know how old she is.Father Jack wrote:Do you have any quiet buns who could potentially be a cushion for her? Re: Found Helen on her side again :-(
She's falling over when grooming herself, it's difficult for her to groom being twisted and she sort of leans to do so and that's when she topples over but she hasn't done this for years it's started again the same night I think we lost Baby Saint. I find she sleeps in a sitting position which is better.Sparky wrote:Oh dear, poor Helen

Helen use to lean on Baby Saint a lot and she hasn't got that now, although she does have a bunny hugger the side supporting beds ( Bibbles bunny sanctuary sent one for Helen and Baby Saint to use ) and an ugli donut but with Helen you have to be careful with her having back splay legs as she can't seem to pick her feet up to get into or on things.

Re: Found Helen on her side again :-(
Not really as she hasn't a big space as it is due to Baby Saint we made their pen the size it is and I don't want to change much for Helen, I think if I gave her a smaller space she would be even more unhappy and she needs to see Kenzo and the other buns, although I think she may have unlimited sight now due to that ulcer that she had on her eyeball.Littleboots wrote:Maysie, could you keep her in a smaller area at night when youre not likely to be around?? just a thought
