Now I'm paranoid!
Whilst Anna is out, I've been reading up on flystrike and other potential bunny nasties... The poor bleeders are susceptible to all sorts! They're so delicate I'm not sure I want to let them out of the house!

I am sure you don't want to hear this but flystrike can happen to indoor buns as well. Vigilence especially in the warmer months can help guard against attack. Also you can use products like rearguard (available from the vets) to help prevent against it.

It's a bit like being a parent and letting your kids go out to play by themselves for the first time.

I was told if they were free range they are less susceptible as they are on the move.
When Rose had her kits a few months ago there was always fly's no matter how much I changed them, I got the Johnston's guard spray off ebay. xx

One natural way to ward off the flys and please the buns at the same time is to grow lots of basil. Basil is known to be fly deterrent. If you put basil planters on top of hutches and around the garden they should help. However if you are going to grow it from seed be aware that you should be looking to sow end of may/june in this country. Any sowings before that probably will be got by the frosts. I think lavender is also a good one. I have notice my buns both like to lie under the lavender rows when they are growing well. I think the reason is 2 fold. Firstly the smell chills them out and secondly although the plants are covered in 'beneficial' insects such as bees and hover flies, they are not used much by the pesky midges and blow flies.
