Battery farmed rabbits - help Compassion in World Farming
Received my CIWF magazine yesterday and there was a big article on battery farming of rabbits in the EU and the appauling conditions.
Nearly all farmed rabbits for meat and fur are kept in barren environments often in cages where their natural behaviour is severely restricted. What is really sad is that of the 326 million+ rabbits battery farmed in the EU, over 32 million die in their cages.

Nearly 1.2 billion rabbits are slaughtered annually for meat worldwide; over half are in China. Rabbits are the second most farmed species in the EU with over 326 million slaughtered for meat ever year, the majority of which is in Italy, Spain and France.

CIWF are asking people to contact the French Minister of Agriculture to press for the welfare of farmed rabbits in France to be addressed, this is the email address if you can spare a moment: cab-presse.agripeche@agriculture.fr

It is sad here in the USA as well although there is pressure for more humane conditions. They are telling the ranchers that if the bunnies are kept happier they will produce more meat! Grrrrrr!

A local rabbit group in Melbourne that I'm part of recently "rescued" (in reality, they broke and entered and stole the rabbits) from a rabbit farm. The photos on facebook are HORRENDOUS. It just breaks my heart.
This CIWF campaign sounds good
