we have 5 now

trust me, we were both heaving at all the mucous strings and rancid placenta... especially when she happily wolfed down 5 placentas!!! No wonder they lose their appetite before birth

they are so gorgeous. and she is such a beautiful cat - love the eye liner! And a loud purrer too!

God there is a sixth in there I can feel it. She is so tired that when placenta #5 arrived I had to physically carry baby #5 (still attached to placenta #5 ) and place them both right next to her head before she would eat the placenta and chew through the cord.

Don't worry, I used a towel, there is no way I'm handling placenta bare-handed!

She is shattered bless her and is catching a quick 40 winks before #6 arrives!

I don't know if there's more as I can't really get a good feel due to the way she's lying but her belly is still relatively hard so we might get even more but I'm hoping she stops at 6.

when my mum's jack russell had babies we helped her break open the birth sacks etc - i think it is tiring. She did spend a lot of time staring at her bum in a kind of 'what's happening?' kind of way when they started to come out. At a cattery I used to work at a lady had 2 cats from somewhere in the middle east - she had rescued them from kids that had just covered them in petrol (you can guess the rest) and brought them back to the UK with her.

I don't think it's as bad as it is for human. The proportions of vagina:head seem a lot kinder to cats

she wasn't screaming in pain, just yowls at the particularly strong contractions

Number 6 is on its way - we've had some minor contractions (which I think are the ones that position the kit ready for birth) which she has slept clean through.

We did had to intervene on 3 of the babies to break open the sacs as she seemed disinterested. Number 3 (who followed very shortly after number 2) didn't really get much attention as she was too busy with number 2. numbers 4 and 5 I think she was jsut too tired to do anything so I have made a hasty study of amniotic sac-breaking

and little claws they look HUGE to me lol. Like teeny aliens

They are getting cuter now they're drying out that's for sure.


Bles her she is totally shattered but has only stopped purring to lick things, eat things and yowl in pain! You won't catch me purring through labour!!!

Have let Charlotte know that you have had the kittens. She sends her congratulations

I guess I'd better let her know that the cat had the kittens and now there are six!

there aren't six yet... she is still sleeping through her contractions. hubby has had a feel adn tehre may well be SEVEN but I can't see that happening tbh...

we are slightly worried that #6 is taking so long

I think we have stopped at 6. I can't feel anything else in there. she is currently lying curled around them all :luv:

She didn't take to motherhood particularly well with #1 but byt eh time 2 and 3 arrived she was on the way... She looks so contented, if a little bloody and tired!!!
