A vegetable free diet?

I was wondering about vegetable free diets and wanted to know if you guys had any info/advice on it.

Willow is very prone to an upset tummy and if I give her more than a taste of any vegetable her poops become really soft and dark. At the moment, I've found the thing that is working best for her is to give her a little of something 2/3 times a week - usually a potted herb. This keeps her tummy just about right. However, I'm worried about a) the potential health effects of doing this long-term, and b) Mojo being on a very limited veg/veg free diet.

Is this really bad for them? They also get dried herbs normally around every other day, but I doubt these have the same nutritional benefits as fresh veg would.

Thoughts, guys?

Funny you should say that, hudad is considering cutting out veg for Theo (which will mean Reuben too) because he's constantly leaving squishies all over the place.

All our bunnies are on veg free diets for various reasons. Mostly tummy upsets. We do give them dried herbs/leafy things instead. Also make sure they have lots of different textures to help with their teeth but they are perfectly fine.


they do get the occasional vegetable as a special treat but that is all.

Temperance and MJ don't get veg. Only very occasionally as a treat (less than once a month, and it's only a tiny bit each). They just get unlimited hay, some fresh herbs, some dried herbs/forage, pellets.

I have read that they don't need veg. Makes sense, in the wild they wouldn't regularly be eating veg just grass and forage.

It does make sense when you think of it, actually. It would also explain how some buns just can't cope and get upset tums when eating veg.
