Rosie, Dougal, Graham, Ronnie and Sparky :( ...

Rosie Roo and her husbun Dougal are off to the vets at half five. Dougal has a snotty nose - if it's all in the nose he'll just get nebulised for a while and hopefully that'll clear it like it did for Graham. If it's on his chest too he'll probably get antibiotics.

Rosie is more of a worry. She's hurt her back left leg and is not putting any weight on it at all . Humum said it looks funny around the thigh area and she is very scared Roo might have broken it. We hope she is just thinking the worst, that it looks funny because she is holding it up, and that it is just a sprain but lots of vibes would be very helpful.

Thanks heavens that of all the buns, Rosie is insured.

The vet is 90% sure Rosie doesn't have a break or dislocation. She (Rosie, not the vet) is on pain relief and hutch-rest for the weekend.

Dougal's yuck is all in his nose so he'll be having trips in the spaceship over the weekend.

If they're not both a lot better by Monday, Roo will go in for an x-ray and Doug will get some abx

Sorry guys, Humum actually had the cheek to go out today   

Dougal is definitely less sneezy and runny already   

Rosie would not fall for the meds-in-a-shredded-wheat trick (even yummy metacam) so she got brought in to the kitchen and syringed it. At which point she decided it tasted quite nice. Humum popped her on the kitchen floor to see her move and she is still very reluctant to put that foot down   so we'll have to see tomorrow but she might be getting dropped off at the V.E.T. first thing Monday morning for further investigation...

I was hoping to hear the leg was better :-(.

It's so difficult to tell. Humum was wary of the pain meds masking discomfort and her using the leg more than she should, but the vet said if it was a fracture she would not use it even on pain meds, it would just make it slightly less sore. Her pain injection from yesterday would have about worn off when she just got tonight's dose so when she was in the kitchen it should have been quite a true reflection, and although she does sort of touch her foot to the floor, she picks it straight back up again.

They've been moved into a cosier, easy-to-access hutch with a dogbed for a litter tray so it's easier to get in and out of and seem to have spent most of it snuggled in there.

Fingers crossed Rosie's leg isn't broken/fractured. Poor girl

Humum thinks Rosie might be a tiny bit better. She had an explore of the kitchen when Dougal was in the spaceship and she seems to be putting her foot down a teeny bit more. And she will periscope on her haunches, it seems to be when she tries to extend the leg that it hurts.

Humum will speak to the vet tomorrow and see whether she thinks it is worth doing a just-in-case x-ray.

Dougal has produced copious amounts of snot   but Humum thinks / hopes that is just because they are starting to get it moving out of his sinuses.

They are both bright enough and eating all the extra sneaky treatie noms they have been given throughout the day...

That's good news that the leg is slowly improving :-).

Hope all goes ok tomorrow with the Vet.

Roo has gone in for an x-ray. It's bright and sunny here so she was most miffed at being dragged out of her sun-beam  but Humum says at least it is a nice day to sit by the phone fretting...
