My old girl isn't doing so good.

When Jelly got her jabs last year, Nicole our vet said she was amazing for her age,no signs of slowing down or any arthritis. Vacs are now 1 year apart, so this was 11 months ago now.

Before they moved into the shed, I noticed someone was leaving orange wees on the floor. Its taken me a while to work out who, and ive realised its Jelly.Now she leaves about...4 orange and very smelly wees on the shed floor every day. She is quite wobbly on her back legs and often "walks" rather than hops. She is very slow,and all round her back end is quite matted, as if she isnt cleaning herself. Its not caked with poo, shes never had a pooey bum but in the last two days I have noticed shes caked in urine, and her hocks are red and her feet are orange and all round her tail and on her tail is matted with hair.

She's seeing a vet on Wednesday, and im suspecting it is arthritus, but then that doesnt explain the wee does it?

Oh sweetheart, I will leave the advice to those of our friends who are more knowledgeable than I, but I am sending lots of love and healing vibes.

Jelly may have a UTI. If she hasn't been able to clean herself because of arthritis that would set the little dear up for a UTI. I hope they can get it all sorted out on Wednesday and give her some help. Sending vibes for the raven beauty Jelly!   

Yes that does make sense, i feel like its two linked issues rather than one big issue, so thats probably quite likely. Shes still very smooth and shiny, got a lovely coat, bright eyes etc. she doesnt LOOK old, not really except for her greying coat.

Aww Bless her it does sound like she has a touch of arthritis as our Grace who was 9 started to wee everywhere and got dirty sometimes as she couldn't sit correctly to wee as she had it in her spine.

I agree, it could well be arthritis, especially with her age. My vet queried an arthritic spine when Willow was displaying the same symptoms...

Vibes for jelly. I would think a uti and athritus combined. We had amazing results with cartrophen injections for one of our bunnies with athritus

I meant to say earlier that I cut a hole in the front of their litter tray and this helped cos it was easier for her to get in and out x

Fingers crossed for Jelly for tomorrow.

Im going to get a dog basket instead of their litter tray so she can climb in and out easier. Shes pretty much the same today, bit stiff but happy in herself.Will update tomorrow after 7pm when shes been to the vets.

She has arthritis in her hip, and a urine infection. Shes on septrin snd metacam, but hoping to wean her off the metacam as her joint supplements take effect. Very good teethies, and still a good girl for her age.

Pebbles had her vaccine, shes fine. And Domino officially just had his first full vhd myxi combo since being poorly...go him!! (And she said he wasn't chubby at all haha!)

Ohh, I hope the medicines will work well and speedy so that she can enjoy her life with you to the full!   

Well, Jelly has stopped weeing on the floor, and her wee is back to its normal colour. But everytime we stop metacam she's worse, and she wont stop peeing on herself
Going back to the vet tonight. She's also losing weight, this will be here third trip since May and if shes gone down in weight again we may have to investigate further.

She's still bright in herself, but she is eight now, so I have to be realistic about what we do, she's an old girl and I just want her to be comfortable for however many years/months she goes on for.

The vet thought she may have bladder sludge, given that while her wee had improved, she is very sensitive around the bladder area. He suggested xray, but then she peed on the scales and he looked at the urine and said he doesnt want an xray as hes pretty sure thats what the problem is.

She isnt allowed any more veggies, and her metacam has been upped to twice a day to help with the arthritis. Got to get her back in two weeks time to see if its improved.
