HI,
My English is now 19weeks and is the happiest little bunny in the whole world he has been castrated. Loves a cuddle and I can even lay him on his back on my lap for tickles and brushes and he loves it! My lionhead is happy to be around the other bunny they lick each other, lay together etc but with me he wants to get down, he won't settle and hates laying on his back which I have to do to brush his bum as it gets matted.
Does anyone know if this is what lionheads are like or does he need to be castrated?

Ps. Got my wooden box made on eday and it's on it's way for carrying my buns.

Hi, most buns hate being on their backs, so your English is an exception, and your lionhead the norm.
Is there another way you can brush his bum, (I don't know the extent of the matting) without putting him on his back?

Arrrh ok that makes sense. Thank-you. I brush him every day so we are talking smaller than pea sized below his tail and so far I have got them all out but with him unhappy on his back. I will try other ways now.

I thought all rabbits were happy on their backs!

No probs, hope it helps, should be easy enough to clean that area.
When you put buns on their back they go into a self preservation play dead, or trance. Whilst they may look relaxed, they are usually terified, so it a popular misconception, but best avoided if poss.

I do put mine on his back for 5 mins every 4 weeks, to clip his nails. I've tried other ways and it's almost always ended in stress and blood Shocked So I figure 5 mins of trancing is worth it to get the job done quickly and without hurting him. Smile

My bunny is a lion head cross. I brush him on the floor by kneeling, I then put him head first between my knees and hold him there. He will put up with this for five mins which is usually enough time to get the job done. I think he feels secure as it is dark, just take care not to sit on the bunny!

Hiya thank-you for that, are you able to get the knots out from underneath his tail?
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I have a 3year old boy and a 15month old girl, they are the best, You should be over the worst now use almond oil every day all over your bump and legs and you won't get any stetch marks! Best to use from start, you can buy it real cheap from the chemist!
Any advice on baby/breast feeding etc just ask.
Get those feet up!x

Has your lionhead ever bitten you? Has he been castrated?

Hi thanks for the preg advice. My bump is a bit tiny and pathetic at the moment but it is slowly growing. Its my first so I was looking forward to a huge bump and loads of attention but doesnt look like its happening.
Rory (my bun) doesnt get to messy down there to be honest. He is a very fussy bun, recenly he was ill and got into a bit of a mess. When he started to feel better he pulled all the dirty fur out himself and ending up with a bald bottom, he looked like a chicken but im pleased to report its growing back now.
He is a neutered bunny and has never bitten me, just the odd nip when I have really annoyed him. He is the most affectionate bunny I have ever met and always covers me in kisses. I think sometimes we just have to put grumpiness down to a bunnies personality. I have a neutered female who is awful, hates cuddles, bites and growls but I love her anyway.

My lionhead Gloria is very timid and when we first got her, was really scared of being touched. (She is a rescue rabbit and probably has never been socialised).

Now two years later, she will sometimes tolerate being touched. Even though she is scared, she never has bitten which is surprising. She is neutered but even before she was gentle, just frightened.

Ours is very much the same and has only started to bite well nip the last two weeks so perhaps it is his hormones, ours is an unwanted show rabbit that I suppose was not good enough we got him when he was 8weeks and I think he had been passed about a little interms of location but he was ok.
mmmmm may consider neutering him.
Thanks
