Advice Needed ASAP Empty Advice Needed ASAP

Post by Kirsty&Lola Sun Oct 25, 2009 10:31 am

Lola has decided not to eat her pellets today and she seems like she's struggling to pass wee/poo. She has eaten a piece of apple (treat to get her eating) and is currently eating some hay. I have called the emergency vets and told them we are coming but it is a 45 minute car trip and i don't know if i'm going to make her worse.

any help much appreciated

well ive now been bunny boxed trying to get some infacol down her..she is not pleased with me at the moment. she has eaten quite a bit of grass from in the garden and i'm making her run around. i decided against the vets (with some fab advice from Sooz) With her eating quite a bit i'm hoping to just monitor her closely and take her to my usual vets in the morning.

Gloria has done this a couple of times and it is a worry. As long as she is eating and you can get her to run about, it might pass in a few hours. Usually Gloria is past the not eating stage within 4 - 5 hours and then is back to normal. Hope she is well soon. Sending vibes.

Kirsty text me earlier and Lola has passed feaces and urine and started to perk up again. It sounds like she had a bit of a gassy tummy.

It's not unusual for the first poops to be a funny colour, poorly formed or smelly after a bout of tummy troubles, it just takes the intestines time to get moving properly and thus extracting the required nutrients efficiently again.

well Lola has been to the vets twice in 24 hours and officially hates me! Shes had metacam, metaclopromide, electrolyte water and fiberplex. she's getting back to normal now, even jumped on the bed tonight and has eaten some pellets. we are still a little concerned about her teeth but she will need a GA to look properly due to attacking the vet who tried to look yesterday Shocked

thanks for all your comments

Sending lots of vibes that this big beauty keeps up the good work and continues to improve. Chance gets like this when it is teeth. I took all of mine for their myxi boosters today (apart from Ratman who isn't due til Feb). Chance had his teeth checked and they are ok at moment, but I will know as soon as they aren't as he will stop eating pellets. Even if the vet can't see anything, it isn't til he goes under that they know for sure. My vet let me look at Chance's teeth tonight, with the toothy looker atter thing (technical name) - Anyway it proved to me just how hard it is. You will see cheek, tongue, more cheek and then a glimpe of a molar. Then back to cheek etc. Nightmare.

Glad that she is much better. Having just gone through this myself with Gloria, I know how worrying it is.

Our vet said he finds it funny that the buns with happily have an injection but if you try to look at their teeth they go psycho!

she did go mental when the poor vet attempted to have a peek at her teeth, its quite a scary prospect when faced with a giant lump of angry bunny Laughing

Lola was also one of the, er, courtesans of the King of Bavaria who inspired the saying "What Lola wants, Lola gets". Hence the tendancy to be a madam!!!
