As I am sure we are all going to be seeing and hearing a lot about each others bunnies this opening thread is aimed at letting users post pictures and a few details about their rabbits.

Here are my 7 happy hoppers:

Scout
Scout is my 2 year old Dwarf Lop cross. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old and though she has grown to be one of my healthiest bunnies we experienced a trauma with her when she was just 14 weeks old. Scout had an accident which resulted in her hindleg being fractured along the femure and the two ends of the break coming out of alignment. Our vets did a fantastic job with her, despite having just millimeters of fragile baby bunny bone to work with they pinned her leg back together. She made a full recovery and no longer even has so much as a slight favouring to the affected leg. My wallet on the other hand took a little longer to get over the shock!
Forum Members Rabbits Moto_0266

Bobby
Bobby is a 4 year old REW of unknown heritage. What we do know is he has done a lot of travelling and been in rescue twice, once in Surrey and the second time at my own rescue. Bobby had to have his incisors removed when he was younger due to severe maloclussion. Thankfully this has not impeeded him in anyway and the size of food he can manage to eat still astounds me, he has even engineered a way to eat uncut grass....he turns his head sideways and chews with his molars! Bobby has been bonded with Scout since the loss of his partner Pippa in January '08.
Forum Members Rabbits Moto_0230

Lexie
Another bun to come to live with me permenantly through my rescue Lexie is my current 'heart bunny'. She is a 4 year old Isabella Dwarf Lop and has seen nothing but ill health since arriving. Lexie has numerous problems which mostly stem from her dental issues, namely a tendancy towards molar spurs, a severe and recurrent Pasteurelle infection which stubbornly refuses to respond to antibiotics and also the fact that she has lost an eye to a retrobulbar abcess. Despite this she is fiesty and independant but has mellowed since her bonding with Mackenzie.
Forum Members Rabbits Moto_0216

Mackenzie
I adopted Mackenzie earlier this year from Honeybunnies in Leicester as a companion for Lexie after her previous partner sadly died very suddenly from a heart defect. Mackenzie is a 18 month old tri-coloured Dutch, my absolute favourite rabbit breed, and the third one I have owned. Sadly Mackenzie is another of my dental bunnies and had spleyed incisors which overgrow quite quickly, at the moment removing them is not an option due to low grade enamel issues. he also suffers with continuous Pasteurella infections in his eye which are linked to his teeth. He is a grumpy so and so but I love him all the same.
Forum Members Rabbits Moto_0168

Callisto
Callisto is my first ever Rex rabbit and I adopted her at the same time as Mackenzie, though from a different rescue... Fatfluffs in Birmingham (the wonder of bunnyruns!). She is a 18 month old harlequin rex who suffers the typical rex problem of sore hocks, though these have been much improved since she reached her ideal weight. Calli was given up for rehoming after her owner became pregnant. At the moment she is my only single rabbit as she has refused to bond into any of the pairs, seemingly having a particular hatred for Dutch rabbits. She lives in the house with my partner & I and seems very content to do so. One day we hope she will accept a partner.
Forum Members Rabbits Moto_0135

Fiver
Fiver is my oldest rabbit and the one that rekindled my obsession as an adult. He is a 3 year old minilop cross who is both grumpy but clingy in equal measures. He is part of my only all male pair. Fiver is yet another dental rabbit and suffers from snuffles occasionally. His greatest pleasure in life is sunbathing, which puts him at a disadvantage given the current UK climate but he will also indulge in a bit of cardboard box renovation when bored.
Forum Members Rabbits Moto_0224

Marley
My other Dutch boy, Marley is exceptionally small for the breed giving him a permenantly youthful appearence although at 2 years old he is still a baby. Marley is a typical Dutch who displays charm and cheek in equal measure meaning he can get away with anything short of murder. He is a very friendly little chap and always first at the bars for nose rubs and treats, and is champion of the happy flop...even if he never intends to roll all the way over.

Post by buddabun Sun Jun 29, 2008 6:03 am

My bunny situation is a tad complicated. Mr Buddabun and I left the UK in May, bound for Brunei (S.E. Asia) for 2 years. As a result, we had to leave Charlie, Jack and Bri behind. We did do a lot of research into bringing them with us but it wouldn't have been fair. So I now have 3 bunnies in the UK (generously fostered by Catswhiskas Very Happy) and we gave in and got 4 bunnies over here. So here's the split:

British Bunnies

Charlie
A 3 year old hotot x mini-lop x netherland dwarf mix.
What can I say about Charlie? My first bunny. I got him when I was in uni after meeting a friend's bunny and realising what charming creatures they really are and fell in love with him from the moment I saw him: the cutest bunny I had ever seen, or have seen since most probably. He never fully grew into his ears but at least they don't touch the floor now when he sits down ❤ .

Before Charlie, I assumed what most non-rabbitty people probably do: that bunnies are dull, silent creatures who sit in a hutch all day and smell quite bad. Not Charlie. I decided that he should be a housebun (well, a room-in-housebun technically), and much to my friends' suprise he was definitely not dull; he would make all sorts of little bunny noises, from grunts to thumps, gurgles, tooth crunches and once, when he had snuffles, sneezes and coughs (which, although he was ill were the most adorable thing ever!). Charlie is my angel, my friend and the reason I got out of bed a lot of mornings. He really kept me going through some very hard times at university and provided endless amusement with his binkies around the garden, his friendliness towards any newcomers who dared venture into our house, and his evasive manouevres whenever it was time for bed.

He is my buddabun (he often sits with his front legs tucked under his chest, which puffs out like a little Buddha belly), he is the reason I am now besotted (or obsessed as most people put it) with bunnies and I miss him every day. Charlie's wife Jack (see below) has been ill of late and he has done nothing but sit by her side washing her, offering up the food bowl for her to pick at first: ever the gentleman. Bunny optitian to all, he vigorously cleans eyes at every opportunity, he would wash his ears when I brushed my hair in the morning, mimicking me; and when I lie down in front of him he will sometimes give my forehead a good clean.

Always accepting, he hopped straight up to Jack and washed her the first time they met, making her feel safe, helping her to settle. He taught her how to use the litter tray and has somehow managed to teach Brian too! Even Mr B, who originally was none too impressed that I had a pet (even though we didn't live together at the time), fell for Charles straight away. He was small enough then to fit in the palm of your hand and even now he smells just as good as he did back then (half the reason I called him "Charlie" in the first place). My heart bunny.
Here is my chicken on his first Christmas being cheeky as ever and eating Grandpa's plants:

Forum Members Rabbits DSC_7363

Jack
A 2 1/2 year old chinchilla Netherland dwarf.
Jack is Charlie's wife. Yes, wife - she was sold as a 'he' from a pet shop. I didn't know any better back then and didn't realise there was such a thing as a rabbit rescue but I do believe i 'rescued' Jack. She was the last of two in the shop, both very sorry looking creatures and, just as I asked someone if I could have a little look at Jack, someone else bought the other bunny. When I held her she just nuzzled into my arm like she wanted to hide away from it all so I took her home that day. She is still a nervous bunny but has come out of her shell hugely since I have had her, and bonded with Charlie straight away. They sit together, side by side happy snoozing in the sunshine. Jack knows her place as "man" of the house and will push her head under Charlie's chin when he's trying to wash himself, just to let him know it's her bathtime and to remind him of his place in the household Smile.

Because Jack is a Netherland dwarf, I was always wary of dental issues but she never had any until one day. She is a nervous bunny at home but at the vets she is terrified (hardly surprising considering all the jabs etc they need!). One day she decided to scale my body and fling herself as far as she could from my shoulder. I was worried she'd have broken something but it turned out that she had just cracked a tooth. My vet assured me that it would most probably grow back with no problems but it didn't. It grew back misaligned and so Jack, the bunny who hated vets more than any of my others, was forced to go back there every month to have her teeth trimmed. Eventually, after watching her terrified, hyperventilating little body and feeling sick to my stomach that I was putting her through all of this, I asked the vet if this was it - she was going to have to have these trims for the rest of her life. The vet suggested I get her incisors removed, that the only problem it would cause her is eating - I would have to chop her food up small. I thought this was excellent so scheduled the appointment.

Post-op came back a groggy, miserable bunny. She had four gaping holes in her mouth and couldn't be tempted to eat anything but a few licks of recovery formula. She developed a nasty infection in her tooth roots which the original vet refused to diagnose, despite her smelling rotten. So I took her to another vet who prescribed meds and helped her kick the infection. She still wouldn't eat anything but liquid feed and I noticed a bald patch under her chin where all the fur had rotted away. Back to the vets straight away I was told she had molar spurs. The original vet (who had performed the op) had told me of some minor spurring but had said it wouldn't be a problem. After her post op checkup (where I mentioned the infection) I was told they weren't a problem. Four days later at the new vet they told me she would need another GA.
She was a new bunny. The night following the operation she was eating vegetables. I remember sitting there tempting her with grated carrot and her eating like a thing possessed. I really thought she was on the road to recovery.

Then we had to move. The stress of moving from South Wales to Lincoln, coupled with an invasive operation and nasty post-op infection has left Jack with respiratory problems - swollen nasal passages and a Pasteurella infection that she can't seem to shake. Charlotte has had her on all sorts of meds but it looks like Jack will be wheezing the rest of her life. We thought we would lose her at one point when she was losing weight so fast, but she is gradually getting there and seems happy in herself (I often have webcam viewings to check up on my babies) so we think she will just be a bunny with a wheeze. My little girl, my little princess. She's such a brave bunny and I just hope she keeps on fighting until I can see her again and tell her how proud I am of her.

Brian
A year-old standard blue rex.
I got Brian for a job. Before moving here my job was to drive to different schools with a box full of live animals (all in separate travel boxes obviously Wink) and teach the children about them, let them handle the animals etc. I was told I needed a bunny. Knowing more about rabbits than my employers did (which wasn't saying much), I knew bunnies weren't ideally suited to travelling distances, noisy classrooms filled with kids and being prodded and poked. I needed a very special bunny. So I got in touch with breeders asking if they had any bunnies that they were not wanting. One lady wrote back to me. She was a breeder of rexes and had an "ex show bunny" who she no longer wanted. He was clearly past his breeding prime and she wanted rid of him. I agreed to go and pick him up the following day. When I got there, I was told that this bunny, Brian, had been killed by a fox the previous evening. For some reason she found it necessary to show me the blood trail. She said that I could, however, have one of the babies. A runt. One she "needed rid of anyway". So I snapped him up. Named in memory of his murdered relative, Brian was far from a runt.

The first day I got him home we sat on the sofa together. He was snuggled up on a cushion and, after an hour or so when i went to get a cup of tea and got distracted by something, he was still there a good half hour later, snoozing gently on his cushion throne. He has such character and the kids loved him. When I had been around the circle of children and they had all stroked his silky fur, I would plop him down in the middle and we would all wait. It was almost like Brian had been trained - he went to each individual child, sometimes putting his front paws up on them and sniffing their faces, sometimes climbing into their laps completely. He was a hit everywhere he went and was such a good bunny that we would often share lunch together in the front seat of my car.

I was a little worried about bonding Brian to an established couple and have read many stories of failed bondings and the like (Charlie and Jack bonded so quickly I didn't have to do anything) and Brian, having not been neutered (yet - he was too young at the time), was quite 'enamoured' shall we say, with Jack. Charlie didn't take too kindly to someone trying to steal his missus and they broke out in the occasional posturing 'chase around the garden' but Brian settled in in about a fortnight. The three are now an item and Brian is now far from the 'runt' the breeder described him. A portly man with exceptional whiskers, he has a corner of my heart all to himself.

Brunei Bunnies
When we moved to Brunei I swore I wouldn't get any pets. I lasted three and a half weeks before I caved. "Animal welfare" is not a phrase they understand over here and frankly I was surprised to see rabbits at all, let alone in pet shops. Once again I went against my better judgement and took four tiny bunnies off their hands, four of nine all in the same metre long cage. They can't have been older than about five weeks. They will be neutered when they are old enough but for now live in our spare bedroom, awaiting renovations on our conservatory area where they will have their own area, plus a catflap through the wall into a massive run that Mr B is busy building in his spare time. I do not have as much to say about my Brunei bunsters as we haven't known each other vey long (about five weeks) but nonetheless they are wonderful characters and I love being at the centre of a bunny pile-up once again Smile
Here they are:

Hazel
The only girl, Hazel is the skittish one of the group. She is also the most sensible. She does not like being picked up but will often come and sit on your lap, deciding your clothes need a clean and washing them accordingly, often moving on to any dirty arms or legs she might find. A quiet, beautiful girl, she mothers the other three reckless boys and has bonded especially well with Domino. She was the first to brave the catflap to the "great outdoors" and is coming out of her shell with every day that passes. A beautiful lady, whom this picture does no justice:

Forum Members Rabbits DSC_3167

Domino
He has the award for growing the fastest. I was away for a week at a family 'do' and I came home, expecting to find my bunnies had grown a bit, but Domino was HUGE! Easily the alpha male, he has the softest ears and a sweet personality. He now has a gorgeous big bunny bum which I can't seem to stop grabbing, yes, I am a lech Wink Domino's passion is chewing necklace chains although he does like to sit on your lap and just 'be'. He will be a big bunny I think, but he is good at keeping all four 'in touch', hopping from one to another when they are all in separate corners doing their own thing.

Forum Members Rabbits DSC_3237

Stu
Stu is a sweetheart. He is a bitey little man who seems to enjoy the feel of clothing against his teeth but is a big old softy all at the same time. He does the most enormous binkies when he gets on the sofa which, for a small bunny is quite amusing as his back end often overtakes his front completely and he ends up in a heap somewhere. The first out of the box when I brought them all home, Stu has done not a lot but binky from day one, including when he's underneath the sofa!

Forum Members Rabbits DSC_3207

Bob
Bob is the baby of the bunch. He is significantly smaller (and bonier) than the other three and often has a dodgy tummy, meaning that his tail now is so trimmed he looks like a poodle who's just been to the parlour (skinny with a big puff on the end!). He is the bunny who likes nothing more than to just lie next to you for an age, happy to be with something bigger than him. I think he misses his mummy to be honest, but I will have to do from now on, and he seems more than happy with the arrangement. For such a tiny man Bob is surprisingly brave, scaling the backs of the sofa (or the shoulders of its occupants) before any of the others and first to come lolloping over to greet me in the mornings.

Forum Members Rabbits Bob2

So those are my bunnies. Apologies for the long-winded post but I have so much to say about them all, and, who can help themselves waffling on a bit when it comes to their own beloved buns eh?

Here is the Catswhiskas, bunny crew!

Chance

Here is my old man. He came to me in February, as a Happy Hopper. He had been taken in to Sooz's rescue and came with a few problems and quite a story. He had initially been found the year before, roaming the streets of Sheffield. He was taken in by an old man, and kept for a year. Then the elderly gentleman had to go into sheltered accomodation and could not take Chance with him, hence him coming into Happy Hoppers rescue. I was looking for a husbun for my house rabbit Princess Caramel. At the time I was fostering for Sooz, so asked her what she had and she recommended Chance, however he had some dental work to go through first and was drinking alot, so needed his bloods doing. However he was given the all clear in the end and I went to fetch him. He travelled home on the knee of my friend and was so sweet and calm. When we got back, he and Princess fell in love instantly, no bond required. He has damaged tear ducts due to on going dental issues and therefore has permanently runny eyes. Princess got them cleaned up in no time and love reigned, until her tragic death just 4 months later. Chance is currently a single housebun. He and I are now pretty much inseperable.

Lily

Lily is my only pet shop bun. I don' normally do pet shop buns as I would rather home a rescue, however Christmas Eve 2006 I was in a local pet shop and saw this bun, all alone in the bunny pen. She was a baby and very stressed. There was a child peering at her creaming that she wanted a rabbit. The parent looked suitably harassed and I thought he was going to cave. Probably an impulse buy, I just couldn't let it happen to this bun over xmas. So before I realised I had grabbed an assistant and said I would take the bun.

Lily has turned out to be a "problem" rabbit. She has real aggression issues, which I can't understand as she has lived the good life. She is spayed and partnered and lives in massive accomodation. However she hates other rabbits. I am lucky she accepted her husbun. He is the only one she will. However most of the time she is very loving with me and a joy to have around. She lives outside with her husbun Sandy. And I think you will agree she is a beautiful girl.

Sandy

Sandy came to me last spring, via a friend. He had belonged to her neighbour and kept escaping. When my friend returned him one day, she smacked him across the nose Shocked So my friend said she would take him. However she didn't really have the time or accomodation. So he came to me. I thought I would try to pair him with Lily, not thinking for a moment it would work owing to her nature and the history of previous attempts. However it worked! Sandy is quite dopey.... bless him. He does whatever Lily says Laughing He is a lovely boy x

Princess Caramel Shortcake II - At Rainbow Bridge Crying or Very sad

What can I say about my Princess. She was taken from me 4 weeks ago and I am not over it at all. She has left behind a distraught mummy and a devastated Chance. Princess came to me in 2006. It was all quite by chance. I was due to attend a wedding at which my partner was to be best man. However my heart bun Bugsy was extremely ill with an abscess and at the grand age of 8 and a half I knew may lose his battle. So word had gone round that I may not be going. On the day I did manage to attend and was randomly sat at a table, knowing no one, when a chap approached me and asked if I was the "rabbit woman"? I replied that indeed I was, however was somewhat bewildered. He said that he had heard that I may not be attending because of my bun and that I therefore sounded like the sort of person he was looking for. His daughter had a rabbit but was having to move to India with her husband. He told me all about this spoilt, wonderful bun and I agreed.

Shortly after the wedding I lost my beloved Bugsy and days later Princess arrived. She was beautiful. However I was not in the mood to fall inlove with a bunny again. She initially started as a house bun, however didn't seem to like this (she had been outdoors all her life)... so I popped her back outside and bonded her with a husbun. Things went well until a year later when her husbun died of Myxi. This was entirely my fault as I was not aware of the importance of vaccinating rabbits and also did not understand how the disease was spread. Princess was immediately vaccinated and brought inside as she was grieving. She suddenly adapted to inside life like a fish to water. She must have decided this was now the way for her. But 2 weeks later she caught the vaccinated version of Myxi. I nursed her for over a month and she came through the disease very well. During this time we became extremely close and this bun blew me away. We would spend hours laid on the floor together. She would shower me with bunny kisses and pull and nudge at me if I was ever not paying her adequate attention. My lodger and friend, Alex, absolutely adored her and taught her how to give him a kiss on command. She was wonderful. Some time later I became a fosterer for Sooz and had 2 babies in. They were brother and sister and when they had to be separated for neuturing, I put Flynn, the boy, in with Princess. He loved it, she would watch over him when he slept and groom him and properly mother him.

When Flynn went back to his sister, Princess became a little quiet so I decided that as close as we were, it would still be wise to get her a husbun. Enter Chance. They bonded instantly and she would spend many hours keeping his poorly eyes spotlessly clean. However she never forgot me and our bond never dwindled.

In June this year, Princess became ill with G.I. Stasis. I spent almost a full week awake, intensively nursing her and syringe feeding her. She received all the medicine possible to get her better and for a few days I thought she was pulling through. Then one night she suffered a seizure and never really returned to normal. She was rushed straight to the emergency vets and was given yet more treatment. I brought her home but she never really regained full consciousness. That night I made a bed for myself next to her hutch. As I lay there she dragged herself up to me and slept with her nose pressed against mine. By morning she was virtually comatosed. Later that day when she seemed settled I nipped for a quick nap upstairs, my body was exhausted. I was woken an hour later to be told that she had slipped away Alex's arms. I was devastated and still am. Here is my beautiful girl. Sleep Well x

This is my gorgeous girly, Lola. she is 14 months old and a big girl. She does fantastic binkies and bunny runs around the living room but she can be a little sod sometimes. She likes the taste of new oak dining tables and sometimes likes a little nibble on the sofa cushions - much to her Daddy's dismay. She loves to groom me and my OH, Andy, sitting for hours licking us Very Happy

Lola was bonded with my beautiful Bridge bunny Rory. We adopted him from Sooz earlier this year and we had a wonderful month of his company until he was cruelly taken away from us due to a rare and severe reaction to the VHD injection. He was a gorgeous cheeky chap who was the most vocal bunny i had ever known (i miss his little grunts and buzzing.) I think Rory enjoyed his time with us and we loved him very much and miss him everyday. Binky Free By Gorgeous Roar Roar.

This is Bella, my big feisty madam, who is definitely the boss in the house. She was a year old in March and came to me when she was four months old last July. She came very soon after I lost my precious Harvey and I hated myself for resenting her - she was everything he wasn't, and although I didn't want her to be the same as him, I was so upset that I hadn't given myself enough time to get over him, but then I think if I'd not got Bella when I did, where would she have ended up as she's not the easiest bun. It didn't help that she was very cage territorial, with lots of scratching, biting, lunging, grunting and buzzing. A lot of that calmed down when she was spayed and gradually I realised I loved her just the way she was, and now I can't imagine not having her in my life. She's not the cuddliest bunny, but that's fine, she does like to come and lay next to me on the bed for strokes and even lets me give her a kiss now and again.

Bella ❤

Tarquin came into our lives last August at a year old from Sooz's rescue and is a little darling. Very mischievous and so tiny he can get into places you wouldn't believe possible. He's very quiet when he gets up to mischief, unlike Bell who is very loud and so she gets told off more as I don't realise he's been naughty until long after he's finished. He loves being with Bell, but will also come and spend quite a lot of time on the bed with me doing very energetic happy flops - he throws himself down and sometimes rolls right over. One time he rolled right off the bed Shocked

Missy aka Mischief
She is my 1 year old chinchilla lop X. We haven't got a clue what what she is crossed with (no idea who her daddy is) She came to live with me at the age of 6 weeks when I was in a house share. He sister also came to live with us but her owner was my housemate. Missy was a friend for my lionhead "bunny" but for the first few months of her life she spent all her time with me, following me around.
She is a very vocal bunny and likes to making "wooping" noises as she is running around. Her noises are very loud and are gauranteed to wake me up at stupid times in the morning especially when she pounces around the bed digging at the quilt. I love my little girl to bits, she is full of character and is very bossy. Missy is a loved up bun and lives with her husbun Bunny. She is quite the tubby girlbut our vet has said that she is healthy. Missy loves nothing more than being on the bed in the evenings for human cuddles, this probably stems from her sleeping on the bed with us when she was younger.

Bunny is my 2 year old Lionhead Buck. He's not such a fan of hoomans but I love him all the same, he much prefers the contact of his demanding wifeybun Missy.
I have had him since he was 8 weeks old and was bought as a house bunny. His first few months with me he was a lively and happy bun that loved playing games and following me around.....as soon as his little plums dropped he became demon bunny and didn't want to know me except at food times and when it was time to go to the vets. Soon after his plums were removed he became a happy bun again and he had the new addition of his wifeybun. He is a grumpy bun with lots of personality, he does make me giggle. He has kept me on my toes especially with he weight. My poor bunny finds it hard to put on and maintain weight. I don't blame him for being grumpy as I am constantly grooming him and trimming his fur......the fluffy little monster.

Dodge aka Dodgeroo and the Bunny of Mass Destruction
Dodge is the new addition to my bunny empire (ok its not quite empire status yet) He is a 16 week old blue mini lop. Dodge is a very playful bun and is constantly binkying buckeroo stylee around the house. He doesn't have any bunny friends but he is more that happy at the moment with his dog companion Sandy who he adores. He has claimed his status of adventure bun and is often found climbing and exploring. He is a little snuggle bun and will follow me around and come when called. He spends his evenings perched on my chest after he has had a long hard day destroying various items and trying to eat things that he shouldn't.
He is currently waiting to see his lovely vet so that he can be rid of his plums. Dodge doesn't know what plums are as his haven't appeared yet.
Another thing about dodge is that he is mucky...although he grooms himself and he has aided grooms from SAndy his dog friend he always remains dirty. The bottoms of his ears which tend to trail on the floor and his face are the main spots for his dirt collecting. Dodge will be on the lookout for a suitable lifepartner when he is a little bigger and has lost some assets.

LIAM

We adopted Liam from BARC (Barnsley Animal Rescue Charity).
When i went to look at the rabbits that were available at the time Liam just stood right out ❤

He was the one that was trying to get at us for attention when the hutch door was opened and was also 'showing off' for us by promptly throwing his toys around everytime we laughed at him. He stole my heart there and then, and well as they say the rest is history Very Happy

We knew we wanted a wifey bun for him but at that moment had not really decided which one as long as Liam fell in love with her Wink
Forum Members Rabbits Picture130

So the story continues.....

we asked to reserve a girlie bun called Rosie who was also an English X but were told that she already had a date and if her first date didn't work out then they would try her with my Liam......Rosies date went smoothly so we had to choose another girl, i remembered see'ing Mishka when we were there so we asked Aunty Angie if she could arrange a date for Liam and Mishka. They both went to stay with Louise and fell in love....awwwww ❤ I collected them from Aunty Tracey's a week later and they have been with me for about a year and a half now.

Having had his wotsits chopped off Liam was a much calmer boy than he was when we first met, he chilled, lol. I call him my little old grump sometimes (even though he isn't even old) Very Happy He is my special lad and i love him so, so much, i believe that he picked US that day, rather than the other way around. Mishka is the feisty one and oh my, how much do i love her!!! I feel guilty sometimes that she wasn't actually my first choice, but i know it was meant to be and she is the most amazing little bun, sooooo funny, and nosey Shocked , NOTHING phases her AT ALL Very Happy

Piper:

Forum Members Rabbits Piper

Piper was my first ever rabbit (besides what the family had as a kid). I got her off of the US equivalent of freeads. She was part of an accidental liter and a little girl was selling her. I instantly fell in love when I saw her picture and had to have her! She is about 1 1/2 and I have had her almost a year now. She is a stroppy little madam who thinks she always has to have her own way! She's calming down a little bit and getting friendlier and more affectionate by the day ❤

I was bummed because I was supposed to be re-homing a bun from a lady who had to move to an apartment and couldn't take her buns with her. It didn't end up working out and I was feeling a little down when I saw Alfred. I had to have him!!! I have had him about six months and he is now almost a year old.

Yay - so nice to hear a bit about everyone's buns as well as the gorgeous piccies!

Joanne, your Liam looks rather similar to my Domino... albeit with heavier eyeliner rabbit

Jane I think you really have to put a bit about each bun. We'd all love to see them although maybe you should have a hand specialist on stnadby for when you've finished!

Forum Members Rabbits Empty My Bertie bunny!

Post by Jay Sun Jul 06, 2008 6:24 pm

OMG, your bunnies are all so beautiful, and it's nice to see some new buns and new pics of more known ones Wink , so I've put some never seen before ones here..

I and my BF are servants to Bertie Bunny!

Forum Members Rabbits Berts2

Bertie's a Harlequin Mini-rex, and we collected him form a petshop Shocked in Feb 2007, after months of 'shall we shan't we', we did!
I was intending to get a rescue bun, and as I was looking for a cage, I saw him, and he was 5 months old, and had been left on the petshops doorstep the previous day
Sad He was really frightened, and timid, but I fell for him straight away, and we collected him the following day.

It took us ages to settle him, he was terrified of everything, I persevered, forcing him to be handled and groomed and over 6 months or so, he started to relax. We had a holiday in August that year, and put him in to board, when he returned from that, he was so happy to be home that almost instantly he became frienlier and strokable and well, the happy little character that he is now.

Forum Members Rabbits Berts1

He's funny, moody, flutatious and charming, and he loves to be with us and we love having him here. As a house bunny, he gets the best of both worlds, he has his own room, and a garden on the balcony. Now the place is bunnyproofed, he can go where he pleases. We've been amazed at how smart he is and how quick to learn, and how easily he adjusts to our lives.

He's a vegge addict, doesn't touch sweet things, and is very well trained to use the loo, did it himself!

Forum Members Rabbits Berts3

And he has his own website!

Forum Members Rabbits Empty This is my two - Thumper & Ruby

Post by thumpersmum Mon Jul 07, 2008 12:46 pm

Thumper
Forum Members Rabbits P4220077

Thumper is my special bun, I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him, and he's also my first bun. We weren't intending to get a bunny as we have two dogs and it was not on the agenda at all. However, we were in the pet shop and when I saw him I just fell in love with his cute face, and he was so tiny. Well that was that and he came home with us. He's had dental issues and EC too, but has made a good recovery, and is a very laid back bunny. He loves his veg and his bun wife Ruby, and has always got lots of licks for you. He likes being fussed (preferably when Ruby's not looking though), and is very inquisitive. His nickname is Houdini beacuse he keeps trying to escape the run/hutch. On a couple of occasions he has managed to get out, and I still don't know how he did it Rolling Eyes (The outdoor hutch is very secure so thats OK, but they have a hutch and run in the conservatory and its that run he gets out of so he can hide and chew the children's toys!!!)

Ruby
Forum Members Rabbits 100_1474

We had Ruby from about 8weeks old, she's now about 14 mths old. She's a proper madam, doesn't like being handled (but what bunny does?) and only wants fuss on her terms. If she doesn't want it, she will soon let you know by running off and Thumping her back leg VERY aggressively. (She upsets the dogs when she really puts her mind to it, even with the conservatory door closed). She loves her veggies, hay and pellets. In fact as soon as she sees me in the morning she demands to be fed, and if ever I'm late you should hear the THUMPs. I think stroppy teenager would be a good description Laughing

And finally a picture of the happy couple :luv:

Post by BavBun Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:36 pm

Here is the Bavarian Bunny family:

After a lot of nagging and sweet talking, my bf finally agreed that we should adopt two bunnies. I found "the other forum" and it didn't take long until I fell in love with a little black and white boy called Snoopy. He was with Kayj up in northern England, but with the help of her and Chloe (chloaster) a bunny run was organised and Snoopy came down here to move into our new Happy Hutch. He and his brother had been at kayj's for holiday boarding and then started fighting, as they were not neutered. The owners decided to leave Snoopy behind and only take his brother back. Sad

Here he is, inspecting his run:

And this is the day when he lost his plums:

Forum Members Rabbits Snoopyz11

Do you like my nose???

Forum Members Rabbits Snoopy7ava

While Snoopy was waiting for his snip, I found a lovely bunny girl, who was at Briar Patch rescue in Essex. A few weeks later it was time for a date, and it was love at first sight between Snoopy and Penny.

Then I started fostering for ARC, and on one of my visits to Janice I saw Luna. She was a little baby who had come in with her mother and sisters. Snowy had taken her from someone who had avertised them on ebay (or maybe just the cages, but the photo showed the awful conditions these bunnies had to live in). I thought Luna was the sweetest and cheekiest of the babies, and I was hoping she'd be a girl. I nagged my boyfriend again, and once she was old enough, Janice bonded Luna with Snoopy and Penny. It wasn't an easy bonding, and she is still lower in status nowadays, but she gets a lot of grooming and bunny cuddles.

Here she is as a baby:

3 wasn't such a nice number and Luna was often alone in one corner, so I thought she may want a friend. Amy (abbymarysmokey) had a litter of babies, and one of them was a pretty harlequin girl. I arranged for the babies to come to ARC for rehoming, and reserved the harlequin girl for myself. I named her Sunnie and this time I tried to do the bonding in our kitchen.

Forum Members Rabbits Relaxosunnie

Forum Members Rabbits Bond12

At first everything went quite well:

Forum Members Rabbits 4break4

But then Sunnie started to get bullied by the others and was too scared to go anywhere near them. I decided to separate her and find her a husbun.

Forum Members Rabbits Sunnierun2

At around that time I saw an ad for a baby bunny on Gumtree. I contacted the owner, and it turned out that the little boy was only 7 weeks old. Bought in a petshop for a little girl, who then got bored of him two weeks later. I managed to get the bunny for free and somehow the pet shop had guessed the sex correctly. It was a boy. A very small boy. We named him Cloud.

Forum Members Rabbits CL4

Forum Members Rabbits Sleepycloud

Janice bonded him with Sunnie at her place. It wasn't love at first sight. Sunnie wasn't too impressed with my choice of husbun for her. But after a few days things went better and now they are best friends.

Forum Members Rabbits Ramp4

Forum Members Rabbits Springbun6

And that is the end of the story so far.

Very Happy

Beautiful bunnies and what a lovely idea for a thread :luv:

Bobbin
Forum Members Rabbits 2561690028_98f042fbc6

I bought Bobbin from a breeder before I knew how many bunnies there were in rescues in need of forever homes Embarassed Having said that, I adore my gentle little man and would not change him for the world :luv: I am simply pleased that I have been awakened to the plight of so many, and in a way it is Bobbin that introduced me to that whilst I was doing research on rabbit care and health.

He is a broken sooty fawn mini lop. He is the sweetest gentlest bunny you may ever meet, he has the softest heart and would never hurt a fly (ok, maybe the odd dried up woodlouse Shocked Laughing )

He is now a little over a year old. He lived as a house bunny on his own until he was 7 months, at which point he was neutered and introduced to his first wife Broome.

Broome
Forum Members Rabbits 2346431126_14dc718cee

Bobbin and Broome were introduced, it wasn't a smooth bond, but nothing out of the ordinary. They lived together happily for little over a month, until one day they started to fight. Broome was aggressive towards him, although sometimes I think Bobbin is simply too soft for his own good Rolling Eyes Laughing With the help of a well known and very experienced rescuer we tried a rebond, but she agreed that it was not meant to be and their characters were not well suited Sad

Broome has since found a new friend and lives with a lovely family. Although she is no longer with me, I felt the need to post about her, because even in the short time she was living with me, I became very attached to her, and her quirky ways Smile

After that I was skeptical that Bobbin would ever find his perfect lady, I thought he was too soppy and perhaps was too bonded to me, but I saw that he did love Broome so really wanted to find him that special partner, and that's when Ruby Roo came along Very Happy

Ruby Roo
Forum Members Rabbits 2530976777_6f93883546

Julia(123) knew that I was on the look out for a gentle little girlie for Bobbin and when an accidental litter came to her she already thought that this little girl could be his perfect suitor. She contacted me and when I saw photos of her I fell in love straight away :luv: She was only a baby at 7 weeks when she came here a month and a half ago. The family that had her left the male in with the female after she gave birth, and she was pregnant again straight away Rolling Eyes Sad Roo's litter had to be taken away early at 4 weeks when the second came along. Julia nursed them and they grew big and strong Smile

Bobbin and Roo hit it off straight away Very Happy He is so gentle and she was just a baby so it seemed a good partnership, I think Roo saw Bobbin like a litter mate :luv: She was grooming him just several hours after they met Shocked Very Happy I hope that they will live a very long and happy life together Smile

Ok here goes...

Heres Nigel. Nigel was my first bun. Hes a P@H giant french lop bun. I stalked him for weeks and spent ages with him through the glass, it broke my heart to leave him each time. Sad One day he looked at me and did a giant flop, ears flying out into the sawdust - and that was it, my heart melted and I had to take him home there and then regardless of the fact my OH said no about a hundred times!!!! Laughing He's a grumpy bum, but affectionate in his own way and I wouldn't be without him. :luv:

Next is Dougal. He's a mini lop. Maybe.:lol:I took him on from a pupil at my old school because she couldn't look after him anymore. He's about 2 years old, and has the congenital condition megacolon. THis means that he has occasional bouts of stasis unless he is kept well hydrated and given a really high fibre diet. We nearly lost him last month when stasis turned to bloat and he spent 5 days on a drip. Sad He's so sweet and cuddly, he'd spend all day on my lap if he could! :luv:

Forum Members Rabbits DSCN1104

When it became apparent that I couldn't bond Nigel and Dougal, I got Doris as a wifey bun for Dougal. She's a bitza bunny that I paid £5 for from a lady who was trying to rehome an unwanted litter. She's 9 months now and definitely the boss. She demands grooming and will escape into the garden at any opportunity, evading capture!! She loves digging too, and getting covered in mud. I've just had her speyed, so I think she'll get more calm and friendly in a few weeks Smile

Next came Gladys. She's a Flemish giant. I got her from ARC as a wifey bun for Nigel. We took Nigel to Twickenham to meet her and it was love at first sight. They groom one another all the time and sleep in heaps under the bed. :luv: She loves being groomed and having nose and ear rubs, she falls asleep grinding her teeth! :luv:

Lastly is Dolly bun. She is my special little crazy eyed binky bun. Her eyes bug out like they're too big for her tiny skull Laughing I adopted her 2 weeks ago from P@H. She's a recovered EC bun and shes got sight problems. She sits and scans, crashes into things occasionally, and her depth perception is rubbish! She is soo sweet though, and so funny when she binkies about :luv: I'm just trying to bond her together with Dougal and Doris at the moment, so I'll have a terrible trio. Smile
