Rhia (More commonly known as 'The Bee')
Not long after I'd lost my heart bunny Tilly-May I went to P@H for dog food, and fell in love with a tiny sneezy baby bunny. Course, we all know that good folk 'don't do' P@h, so I didn't buy her. Went to a family party that night & just couldn't stop thinking about her, My friend (Who was with me when we first saw her) said that she'd got my heart, and I should get her. Decided that if she was still there in the morning I'd go get her. Next morning came, got up super early..bouncing off the walls til the shop opened. Got half way into town & saw the building she was in completely alight. Smoke & fire spreading right across town. My stomach flipped & I burst into tears. Spent the whole day watching helicopters & alsorts try to fight the fire from my sisters bedroom window, and crying for 'my bunny'. We called the next nearest branch of P@H & they said nobody was allowed in the building until the fire was out & it had been deemed totally safe...the animals had no chance. It took a long time to put out the fire, and the news reached me that a lot of the animals had lost their lives, both from the fire & from being drowned by the vast amounts of water used. A few days later, we found out that our bunster had survived(!) but had to stay in the vets - the survivors were all being treated for shock/smoke inhilation etc. Couple of days down the line I got a phonecall, the rabbits we're being put out onto the shop floor to be sold. There was no way that I was letting this baby go to anyone who wouldnt treat her like royalty after all that, so got a lift down there the minute I found out and ran round the house collecting literally coins to put together and buy her! Anyway, this is getting so long - basically, I saw my girl & bought her there and then. Holding her in my arms for the first time was just the most emotional experience!
Baby Bee:
Big Bee, Shes my superstar :luv:
Daniel (the spaniel..)
Daniels story is much shorter, you'll be glad to know Basically I went on holiday & left Rhia in the care of Lynne at Holiday Hutches. Whilst away we decided we'd start looking out for a friend for her when we got back. In the meantime, Lynne had been looking after another bunster. He'd been found as a stray when he was younger, and they kept him for their daughter. Lynne suggested a friend to his owner, who basically said they didn't want one bun, let alone two - So Lynne took him in. I got back off holiday & met Daniel....basically thats the end of the story, Rhi went back to Barnsley a few weeks later for some bonding and he came home with us! This is the end of Dans story though, there will be no more homes for this lil man
WOW - HUGE Well Done if you read all that!!

Awwwwwww Becki!! I knew Rhia had been in a fire of sorts, but I had never heard the whole story until now.... what an emotional tale Those poor animals I can't believe any fire men didn't go in to save them like they would if it were humans in there
She is one lucky girlie to live with you

Aww Thanks Thea, Shes such a happy girl. Living with her day to day I don't always realise but when I do take time to reflect what her fate could have been, it does get me a bit emotional watching her so full of life & fun! I know it's a bit rubbish that the fire men could'nt go in as they would humans

Re: Forum Members Rabbits
This is a great thread - I'm familiar with so many bunnies, but didn't know all their stories until now .
Here's our housebunny Rosie
In October 2004, we lost the remaining bun of our bonded pair, Fred and Ginger. In November we felt ready to have bunnies in our lives again and decided to adopt a pair from a rescue. However, we saw Rosie on the Rabbit Rehome website and fell in love with her. She lived at the Scottish SPCA in Dundee and had been found living in a cemetery locally We have no idea how long she had been there or what age she was.
We decided to visit the rescue and knew instantly that she was the bun for us. Although we wanted a pair, the rescue described her as an "unneutered male" so we decided to adopt "Angus" (as we called him then) with the intention of then getting a wifey bun in the future.
We brought him home and during the vet check 4 days later the vet informed us that he couldn't find Angus's plums and that he thought Angus was a female! (We didn't think to check and had trusted the rescue to sex their bunnies correctly).
So, after 4 days with us, Angus became Rosie She settled very quickly and has the most amazing, gentle, friendly character.
Here's where she lives (an old photo but gives an idea of her bunny palace )
We've had a few false starts getting her a husbun - we once brought a bun home from a rescue but our vet thought he might have snuffles and we had to take him straight back The last time she was due to go to Arbroath to find a partner, she went into stasis, had to be hospitalised at the vet and almost didn't make it. So ... she remains a single bunny and has recently gone blind, meaning the stress of travelling and bonding is no longer advisable. I think she's older than we thought too, although there's no way of know what age she is.
However, as I'm at home all day, I spend loads of time with her and she does seem very content and happy. I have a very close bond with her and we spend ages every day 'grooming' each other!
Playing in her homemade tent (seagrass mats from The Hay Experts)
And finally, all flopped out
She's an absolute joy and we'd be lost without her.
Thanks for reading

Re: Forum Members Rabbits
I have just found this thread and thought I'd post about my little man.
Tango
Tango is just over 2 years old got him on 31st May 2006. I'll be honest he was a petshop bunny but that was before I knew that there were rescues for rabbits. I will stress though that he wasn't an impulse buy. I saw him fell in love but went home to research whether I could actually look after a bunny. Lucky for Tango I could.
He was origianlly a outdoor rabbit because my Mum didn't want a bunny inside (still lived at home). However the first time it rained my Mum insisted on Tango coming inside for a run round . He came in that winter and never went back he became such a happier bunny once inside.
He's had a few problems such as recurrent chest problems and suspected EC but he has always taken it in his stride. The vet was suprised how well he looked compared to how bad his chest was (which made me feel guilty).
Me and my OH are slaves to our bunny. See how we bow down to him....
Anyway I'll stop boring you now about him and leave you with one of my favourite pics of him. I think he makes a good ornament don't you...?

Re: Forum Members Rabbits
Russel - at rainbow bridge (still cannot believe I have to write that)
Russel was sold to me as a 8week old Bunny, he was a netherland dwarf blue otter and he was an impulse buy sitting periscoping at me in pets at home... I loved him instantly, we sat for ages and ages together watching the T.V. O/h was besotted with him too when he sat on his knee and stared at him, like he was mesmerising him. Russel passed in Febuary and I am still in shock over it. I then found out he was a lot older then we thought. The vet had had his doubts.... But I was trusting... Russel was a fully operational man who I never got de-plummed. We had so short together but his cheekiness and his love stole my heart. So I add Russel as he is my inspiration.
Rocky (rockstar)
Rocky was sold as a lady bunny so was originally Roxy He is my little Star most of the time. A grumpy boy, he has had his own little problems but I would not be without him. He is such a strange little soul, sometimes loving HUGS and sometimes rejecting me completely. But his grumpy little face makes everything all right O/h and him don't get on so well, but they are trying
Billy
Billy is a black and tan netherland dwarf and is the cleverest of my buns I think, he has learnt the word NO He is a smart cookie but has a thing about nibbling bottoms!! Strange boy, I got him when Russel passed and he turned my grief into love. Billy is my most devoted and affectionate bunny me thinks. Difficult to get a pic of this boy he is always busy
Lucy
Lucy is a blue otter netherland dwarf and sadly when she was 10weeks old she bounced of my knee and broke her leg, her hind leg. I did s much soul searching in the day she was in for xrays and it turned out she has partial paralysis of her other hind and the broken leg could not be pinned so my option was amputate or PTS, I decided to ask the vet to strap it up and see if she could support herself despite the paralysis... She could. So I had her leg amputated... Fretting the whole time, she came through and this is what she looked like
A grumpy bun who had to wear the collar coz she couldn't leave her stitches alone... But nowshe is so tough. She is motherly and I love her dearly!!
Jive
Jive the little horror was my Valentine pressie, she was a little late as I got her in May. She is a gorgeous little smoke netherland dwarf (see the pattern) bit of a loner and naughty doesnt like to fight and hates to much poking and prodding (bites the vet in exams ) But in spite of all this she also resides firmly in my heart!!

Toffee
Well i have the Toffee monster, a gorgeous LionheadXAngora.
He's such a quite little boy with a laid back character but he comes to life during cuddles and when he visits his best friends.. the vets!!
Ghostie
What can i say about my little princess? She's turned my life around, just watching her grow into such a healthy happy and loving rabbit.
I got her from Siona who took her in. Ghostie was rescued from hideous conditions, kept in a hamster cage with her brother. Unfortunately her brother died, but thankfully Ghostie survived. She was caked in her own filth and was dreadfully skinny.
Now she's been with me she's blossomed into such a fantastic bunny. She always come hopping up to the bars wanted her head scratched. She such a friendly little animal and everyone i know just loves her.
MODEL BUNNEH!!
I love my two bunnehs!! And they love eachother

My Bunnies:
Pickle
I got Pickle from P@H originally for my daughter for her birthday. I had rabbits as a child and knew he would be mine in truth... we did the usual thing of buying one of their small indoor cages and took him home. He had poop all in his mane of fur and had to have them all cut out and then we noticed the runny poop and gurgling tummy. The vet diagnosed coccidia and luckily he survived.
Here is a baby picture - he was very thin then.
I then joined a rabbit forum and read up lots on bunnies and decided he should have a friend. I did try a rescue but had a bad experience so ended up finding this little lady:
Twinkle
After all neutering and spaying was done, I bonded them together. I had never done this before and didnt know if it was successful or not - but they did not fight so thought they were happy.
Bonding in the bath:
As time went on Twinkle had a consistent mucky bum - I went though it all, diet, weight, illness, dentals.... until the last thing to try was stress.
I separated Pickle and Twinkle
Now I have Pickle (single guy)
and a very relaxed and destressed (and best of all no mucky bum) Twinkle

Re: Forum Members Rabbits
This is Harriet
I got Harriet from ARC with Riley (below). I was originally going to adopt another pair of bunnies but one of them died so my OH picked Harriet out as the bunny to pair the remaining rabbit with. Things didn't work out with the other rescue but my OH was adamant he wanted Harriet! She orignally came in from the RSPCA in Birmingham I think with the notes "not getting on with other rabbits". She is stuffed full of personality and curiosity and loves to know whats going on around her. She is the nosiest bunny in the whole world and I love her to pieces! She is about 20 months old I think and has the longest legs in the world when she stretches up to find out whats going on. She is also a serial rearranger and can't bear to leave anything in the same place that she finds it!
Below is Riley:-
This is Riley, who is Harriet's partner. He was left in a box outside Battersea. I chose Riley as he was happy to let me cuddle him when I saw him at ARC. He's turned out to be a quiet bunny who likes to live his bunny life with Harriet and it turns out he doesn't enjoy cuddles all that much after all!! He has springs for back legs though and managed to clear my shoulder from a standing start at his last visit to the vets. He got stasis soon after I got him and on the vets table he turned to me and put his paws on my chest to be picked up (only time he's ever done it) and I knew that he knew I was his mum! For all that he's quiet, hes the dominant bun to Harriet which I was surprised at as she strikes me a fiesty lady, but you know what they say, still waters run deep !! We have no idea how old Riley is, but we think he's younger rather than older.
Below is Truffle:-
Truffle came to me from Freecycle with her friend Pickle (below). Truffle was disliked by the family she lived with as she wasn't a friendly bun and she had developed a habit of lunging in fear if you put your hand in the hutch. She never bit thank goodness but I get the feeling if she'd stayed where she was, she might have started eventually. She's not the friendliest of bunnies still, but she lets me pick her up and between her and Pickle, they keep her coat in the most beautiful condition. I have only brushed her twice and each time her fur has already been tangle free and smooth with just a bit of loose fur coming off in the brush. Since Truffle was spayed and had a bout of statis after, she has stopped humping Pickle and turned into a nice little bunny, Her stay indoors for 3 or 4 days really helped her realise that I wasn't such a bad person and she has now also stopped lunging and being so scared. She is also around 18 months we think.
And lastly but by no means least is little Pickle:-
Pickle is a LOVELY little bunny. She was friendlier than Truffle when she first arrived but was still a little nervous. Now she's been spayed she is a curious, mischievous licky little bunny who is so confident. Nothing phases her and on her first free ranging visit to the house, where the other bunnies were quite shy, Pickle leapt off the sofa, took off round the room like a loony, handled the laminate floor like a pro and then fronted up the cat who suddenly decided she hadn't been looking at Pickle like meal and started staring off in the middle distance in embarrassment while Pickle sniffed her. If I'm cleaning litter trays I often wonder whats touching my leg and look down to see Pickle licking my leg as I'm stood there. She has the most beautifully shaped delicate head and is a 'blue' Dutch. We think she is 18 months also and must have been bought at the same time as Truffle, probably as babies. She is so helpful to Truffle with her coat and when Truffle was ill, Pickle looked after her so well.

Flopsy
I got Flopsy in May 2007. I'd had bunnies as a child but hadn't had any for a few years. I dunno why but i just decided one day i wanted another bunny. Enter Flopsy I had no idea rescues existed for bunnies so she came from a pet shop (i know, sorry ) but i wouldn't change her for the world. I've had her since 8 weeks old. She can be a little madam! Everything is on her terms. If she doesn't want petting i'll soon know about it But she loves her mummy really and i often get the gentle little head nudges when she wants morning strokes I joined some forums online and learnt so much about how to care for her and found out she would really benefit having a friend.......enter.........
Rory
I found Rory (then named Gerry) on a rehoming site and fell in love with him. Last July me, James and Flopsy took a trip to a rescue near Leeds and luckily it was love at first site :luv: at the time he was around 2 years old, making him around 3 now. His previous owners didn't have time to care for him anymore so they gave him up. He is pretty laid back. Happy to be cuddled and stroked all the time :luv: But despite that he destroys everything in site! My mum has had to re wallpaper a certain wall in the front room twice now and she wont be impressed when she gets back off holiday on Saturday and has to do it again
He has had one dental so far, and is destined to have them for the rest of his life possibily needing another soon.

Re: Forum Members Rabbits
Right.....THIS could take a while.....I hope you all have Broadband!!! I have also discovered whilst gathering the pics to do this that I have 30 buns, not 28!!! Somehow Pongo and Purdy got left off the list!!!
Timmy
Timmy is a black and white Dutch, and is my extra special precious little man. I am totally and unashamedly head over heels with him. :luv: He lives in the house with me, one of 2 indoor bunnies that I have. He is 5 years old, and has free run during the day. He is cheeky and cuddley and funny, and is spoiled absolutely rotten, and I couldn't possibly love him any more than I do!!!!! :luv: :luv:
Petal
Petal is an Agouti and white Dutch girl. I rescued her from an over-run breeder.....and she surprised me a couple of weeks after I brought her home by presenting me with 4 beautiful daughters.....all of whom also ended up staying!
Petal & Her Daughters....All Grown Up!
Left To Right: Petal, Lucy, Sky, Tammy, & Felicity
Archie
Archie is another Mummy's boy. He is a Yellow and white Dutch boy. He has a VERY sweet nature, and is very curious and playful. He is 2 years old.
Pongo & Purdy
I adopted Pongo and Purdy from ARC. They are REAL characters!!! Pongo is a sweet, good natured boy. Purdy is a biter.....she is fast, aggressive, territorial, and knows NO fear! As Pongo and Purdy are near enough identical, you have to make VERY sure which one you are going to reach out to! Purdy has been known to close a five foot gap between her and you in under 1 second! But I love her to bits......she has ATTITUDE!!!
Pongo
Purdy......Doesn't she just OOZE Attitude?!?
Chrissie
Chrissie is a very lovely Tortoiseshell and white Dutch girl. I adopted her from ARC too. She LOVES people.....but HATES other rabbits!!! Lol! ARC tried repeatedly to pair her up, but she was having none of it! So she lives very happily on her own.
Applejack
Applejack is a Tri Coloured Dutch boy. He and his family were rescued from a breeder. His Mummy had been used as a breeding machine, and was exhausted. Applejack was very tiny when I got him, but he is a big boy now! He has THE sweetest personality.
Lizzie
This is another Tri Coloured Dutch....she is Applejack's Mummy. She is doing SO much better now, and has built her strength up and is very happy now.
Applejack (L) and Lizzie
Suzy, Petie, & Lola
These gorgeous bunnies were also adopted from ARC. Suzy is a blue and white Dutch girl, Petie is a Tortoiseshell and white Dutch boy, and Lola is a Chocolate and white Dutch girl. They have fantastic personalities, and are very special bunnies.
Suzy
Petie
Lola
Louie
Louie is another special boy! He is a purebred Dutch, but was born without any pigment! He has snow white fur and bright blue eyes! His parents and his sister were all traditionally coloured and marked Dutches. Louie has THE sweetest, most gentle character! I adopted Louie from Southampton Rabbit Rescue.
Rosie
This is my darling little Mini Lop, Rosie. :luv: She is a housebun. She is unbelievably affectionate.....she rubs and rolls and gives kisses and cuddles, she just CRAVES attention! Interesting, as she was 'gotten rid of' by a breeder because she failed to fall pregnant - and because she was *AGGRESSIVE* !!!!!
Herbie
Herbie is an Isabella and white butterfly French Lop boy. He is VERY friendly and nosey, and LOVES his nose rubbed!
Binky & Bertie
These two lovely little boys are Nethie crosses....and were my first 'failed fosters'!!! They arrived crammed in a tiny, filthy little carrier with about 10 brothers ans sisters. They were all skinny, dirty, and had severe dental problems due to inbreeding. They had lived in a tiny hutch piled on top of each other since they were born, and were initially terrified of space, and just about everything else. I fell totally in love with these boys, who were neutered and had their teeth removed.....and then I could not bear to part with them after all we had been through together, so I adopted them! They are VERY dear to me. :luv:

Snowflake
This is Snowflake, a sweet little LionheadX boy. He is named Snowflake because it looks like he has one on the end of his little nose! He is husbun to Cocoa and Poppet.
Holly
This is my little Lionhead Lop, Holly. She is SUCH a sweet girl, loces to give kisses, and likes to cuddle with all the boys!
Teddy
This is Teddy, the Dwarf Lop. He is totally black weith a white nose and one white leg! He is a really gorgeous, cheeky boy.
Princess
This is Princess, my REW doe. This girl is 4 years old, and ius VERY special to me as she was a gift from my husband. She is quite a big girl.
Cocoa & Poppet
Cocoa and Poppet are mother and daughter. They are Nethie X Dutches, and they were rescued from APPALLING conditions. They were kept in a filthy shed with no light, and were horribly neglected as the owner not only stopped cleaning them out, but stopped feeding them too. They were totally emaciated when they were rescued over the Christmas holidays a few years ago, and the vet recommended PTS. But they were given a chance.....thank goodness!!!.....and today are two healthy, happy, playful, shiney bunnies!!!!!
Dottie
This is Dottie. She is a chinchilla and white Dwarf Lop. She likes to put on that she is really tough.....but it's all a front, and she is really very sweet!!!
Squishy
Squishy is a Tri Coloured Dwarf Lop. He is a LOVELY boy, friendly and VERY nosey!!!
Mindy
This is Mindy. She is a chocolate spotted Dalmatian Rex. She is sweet, but grabby when you have something tasty to eat! She is Louie's wifeybun.
Honey
This is my lovely old girl Honey. She is the eldest of my bunnies, at nearly 9 years old. I love her SO much!!!!! :luv:

Hopefully this will work, lol :
Lotta: Dwarf Lop (approx. 3 months old). With her new tunnel to play in (she loves it, lol) - See what I mean about her ears, lol. Sometimes down like a lop, other times up, sometimes one up one down, lol.
