Its Starting Already
It’s started already my daughter had a phone call this morning from a friend. She has had a rabbit for a couple of years I think it was after she saw my last bunny Jake when he was hopping around a barbecue we had for my daughter’s birthday and thought it was cute. She took the rabbit as a house rabbit without thinking about what it entailed , she then put the poor thing in a hutch far too small outside now she has decided that due to one thing and another that she can’t cope with the bunny there are other things she wants to now do. I can’t repeat on here what I told her on the phone but basically want to know the names and addresses of local rabbit rescues so as she can just dump the rabbit along with any responsibility’s she may have, and as if it’s perfectly acceptable to just get rid. I was so annoyed with her that the phone was red hot. I just feel that it’s the poor bunny once again that is going to suffer, how many more are going to follow in the next few months as they are thrown out with discarded and broken toys.

Re: Its Starting Already
[b]At an absolute push I wont see it hurt or destroyed but there is no reason that she cant keep it why are people so selfish these are living animals not plastic toys the trouble again she knows how I feel about buns and animals and is playing on that. One thing about it she knows what I think about her now and has probably learnt a few new words as well

Re: Its Starting Already
Maybe if she really doesn't want it though it would be best she doesn't keep it because who knows how she might treat it considering she doesn't want it.

Re: Its Starting Already
You could take it off her and make sure you take the hutch and all the equipment even of you don;t want it, it would then make it more difficutl to get another pet and maybe she will think twice about it
I feel so sorry for the bunny because it is suffering already, it was loved once and was an indoor bunny, now it's been shoved outside and I bet it doesn't get fresh food and water every day
What a horrible situation

Re: Its Starting Already
It's just awful how people can be so thoughtless. I have a neighbour whose 16 year old daughter got a rabbit on a whim and had it few a couple of years. She then got fed up with it. I looked after the bun in their garden - which was pretty well cared for - when they were on holiday and received a call a few weeks later offering the bun to me. I already had two so had to say no, but told her about SSPCA. The bun was eventually found a home, but it was always going to happen.
I just wish people would find out more about their potential pets beforehand. If you were getting a dishwasher, you would check up on what the best model is before, so why not find out about your pet first.

Re: Its Starting Already
If she doesnt want the bun then it is best that it is given up. If she feels like she "has" to keep it then who knows what kind of life it is going to keep getting. Especially as it is already in a hutch that is too small and being ignored. Is there anything you can do to help?
I understand the anger you must feel but it sounds like a new loving home is what this bun needs, and as soon as possible.
You are absolutely right that this person is irresponsible, and its disgusting, but I think Theo is right. Remove the bun and all the bun equipment (to make it more difficult for her to do this again).
Keep us updated.

[b]Yes I prob didnt quite put it rite I haven't told her she should keep it I want to get the bun out of there as soon as possible hopefully my daughter will be having it with hers until my bun house is done, or someone that will look after it and give it the respect that its little life deserves. The choice words were wat I thought about her

Re: Its Starting Already
Scally! OMG he is a demon in a grey bunny suit! ha ha ha
I love him sooooo much though! He bounds from one naughty event to the next. From ringing his bell in the middle of the night to get me to come down for a head scratch to trying to climb up the chimney, there is always something naughty in progress. I have a real soft spot for buns who are badly behaved! ha ha

Terror might be more apt!!
How lovely to hear your expanding I sometimes think these buns are only ever meant to be temporarily in these unwanted situations until the right person comes along. As awful as that initially is, when the right person does come along, that animals life is transformed.

Re: Its Starting Already
Don't worry about spelling, the message got across and that is all that matters.
Hope the bun gets a better life. If it is a dental bun, it will feel so much better when its teeth have been looked at. Bless you for looking out for it.

Re: Its Starting Already
Glad the bun is in a loving environment now.
Sorry to hear that there are poorly teeth involved. This may just be because of the bad diet bun has been on up til now. The vet will be able to sort this out and bun will be feeling much better, free from pain.
Well done to you and your daughter for changing this buns life for the better.
Keep us updated about how it goes with the teeth.

It's sad that so many bunnies are unwanted after the novelty wears off, but you have made a big difference in this case - well done!
