just starting
Hi All, have now got hutch sorted, and wondered what you all use in hutches ( will be outside but well sheltered )
I'm thinking Hay and sawdust? and maybe cat litter ( wooden pellets ) in litter tray. Also have not got cover yet, just wondered if you have any tips other than buying new ( cover nearly as much as hutch!! ) just don't want it to look a mess as the hutch itself is quite attractive. ( be better with rabbits in I know! ) Visiting rspca tomorrow to have a look at a few pairs that need rehoming.

Re: just starting
In the day bit I line with newspaper in the summer and add hay in winter.
I put cat litter trays into their beds, lined with newspaper and hay and they do their toilet there. I stopped using wood shavings because it was messy and it got stuck in Gloria's mane (she a lionhead).

Re: just starting
I use tarpaulin (sp?) to keep mine dry, with a helpful partner we created a cover that works quite well.
I just have straw in the sleeping area, but hay in a large hayrack for feeding. Like Nickie, we found sawdust to be really messy so don't use it anymore. Once we knew where rhe buns preferrred to toilet we put a litter tray there and now they use that so cleaning out tendes to be fairly easy

Re: just starting
hey thanks for the replies we seem to be getting on Ok with a tarpaulin over the hutch but now the weather is definitely getting colder at night thought I might add a layer of bubble wrap or some some sacks for more insulation?? Both bunnies were using the litter tray but then suddenly seemed to stop, any tips for litter training?

Re: just starting
Thanks I think the problem seems to have sorted itself out, they are now more or less using the litter tray.
