Darling Crystal

I remember when I was a child and mum & dad brought you and Tabitha home from the rescue. I was so excited, even though I did sulk because I wanted to come with them to collect you and had no idea we were getting cats! You caused havock, going to the toilet on our new bean bags, collecting baby frogs from the garden and bringing them in to leave them in the corner of the kitchen, meowing because you were hungry or just because you wanted a chat. When I went through my phase of wearing flares you would attack my legs as I came up the stairs, probably because you dissaproved of such a fashion mistake!
You slept under the duvet with your head on the pillow and would stretch out in front of the open fire. In summer there was nothing more you loved to do than sunbathe in the garden for hours, unfortunately leading to you having skin cancer and losing an ear - but I'm sure you think it was worth it .
Your love/hate relationship with Tabitha was hilarious, constantly swiping at eachother, but if another cat dared to come into your territory you would gang up together to fight them off!

The other day when I held you in my arms and you purred, looking up into my eyes, it's like you knew your time was coming to an end. We cuddled all evening and it felt so special. I was sorry to hear the next day you took a turn for the worse and just went down hill , I'm glad we had those last moments together. Even though I moved away and rarely saw you, it felt like you would always be there to greet me when I visited, saying hello with your big loud meow! I've missed you since I left and I'll continue to miss you now, even more so knowing you are no longer here. Dad told me you passed away peacefully as he held your head and stroked you, I'm glad it was so nice. I love you Crystal, my old, dear friend. Rest well, say hello to all the hamsters! I'm sure they will remember you stealing them from their cages and trying to kidnap them, thank you for never killing one though .
