Re: Circles?
he's a stunner, I do love Dutchies, but I'm puzzled by this. By your own admission, you have no money, and can't afford the vet's bill to get Isobelle speyed, but have bought another bunny. Being a responsible owner means having the means to look after your animals properly and that includes having the funds to get them veterinary treatment immediately if they need it. Bunnies can get sick very easily and go down hill very quickly, and if you woke up tomorrow and found one of your buns in stasis/limping/with head tilt/flystrike etc. what would you do?lexybee91 wrote:Probably doesn't help that the husband just bought a male bunny 0.o....
However, as you now have both buns, once Jack matures, they will need to kept apart until they have both been neutered, and for 4-6 weeks afterwards, before introducing them. If they meet for a few seconds whilst entire, they will mate, and you will have another 5-7 rabbits to take care of or find homes for.
Jack should be neutered first, and this is cheaper (I think it's round £30), Isobelle can be speyed later. Jack will mature anytime from 10 weeks old onwards, you'll need to keep him apart from Isobelle nearer the time, and check every day if his testicles have dropped. he can be neutered pretty much straight after that.
We all have to learn, and we are here to help, that's what the forum is for, but as you've only had one rabbit for such a short time, I hope you'll consider the help you're given here, your buns will benefit from it. We take the care and welfare of our buns seriously here.
Re: Circles?
I have to say I am a little shocked at you having another rabbit. And un neuatered too. You are running the risk of a litter now. The saying 'breed like rabbits' has come about for a reason. I would love more buns but know this would have implications for my finances if something happened. So have to be sensible. We are all here to offer you advice but as Jay said, the care and welfare of buns is paramount to this sites ethos and we need to know you will take it on board if you ask for it.
Re: Circles?
i'm just as angry with my husband too! I didn't know anything about this, we discussed getting a male when we had more money!I don't know what he was thinking...He's agree'd that Jack can be spayed on the first of febuary when we get our money. I'm shocked at him too, he said it was because he could see how upset i was about loosing snuggles. He didnt' see the problem, I can't give him back but...I don't see how we can keep hi either. I'm sorry I can see why you guys are confused. xx
