So. I gave Jack the recommended egg cup full of pellets. ...and he looked at me as if to say...is that all mum, are we destitute! I felt like I should rename him Oliver. Either I've done something wrong or this is going to be a LONG road... lol x

Yeppp...I always get that, but then they really do eat more hay..it's so much better for them! You're doing the right thing, don't get taken in by their cute ways...it's all a clever ploy to trick you into making them fat! Laughing As long as he has hay available 24/7 he'll have to go to that for his nomnoms!

Oh God, My girls would love it at yours! Laughing

They dont get anything NEAR an egg-cup full, they get literally a couple of pellets morning & evening, and some days they dont have any.

If you feel that he looks hungry (They will, rabbits always look hungry) you could always buy a 'treat hay' as below & give him a bowlful of that instead of pellets Wink

We wouldn't slate you Smile

Are your buns currently overweight? I know it is really hard, but it's much easier in the long haul to get them used to eating a normal amount now, rather than them continuing to eat too much, and you having to put them on a proper diet. Proper diets are so hard, when my boy Bruce is on it, I have to avoid him all day because all he does is chase me around the house demanding food!

Good luck and hopefully you can resist their cute little faces a bit better tomorrow!

Sounds familiar - my cats are very good at it too. Hay pellets are great, and twig treats usually keep Tibbs quiet for a while....

Mine always look like they are starving! Laughing

I need to cut the pellets down for my two - they have about a childs beaker nearly full a day (i measure it in the morning and spread it out over 2 meal times) . I admit i've been feeding them extra over the winter and will gradually cut down. They are fantastic hay eaters though and they love their greens. They arent over weight or anything.

Hmm...well I think that's natural for them, they'll eat what they can get in winter because the food is scarcer? Maybe?I don't know...

It's good that they love their hay though, I know that much! xx

Depends how warm it is indoors, I mean... it's a constant temprature in ours, and it's pretty warm,so they dont' need any extra layers they wont burn it off in the cold. So I guess they don't need as many treats and stuff! xox

I know I have the same,in teh summerIdon't want to eat anything I get down to like from a size 18 toa 16.. :/ xx

I think indoor buns are different because the temperature remains pretty constant year round. Smile

You should never just cut down their food in one go, it should be done gradually, please take a month or so to reduce the amount until you get down to an egg cup full, make sure there is plenty of fresh hay every day and fresh water twice a day
