Permanently hungry?
Molly and Junior behave like they are being starved, and all they do is eat I can't move without them begging, Molly has even taken to putting her front paws on my legs when I stand still.
She is on the skinny side but I can't seem to fatten her up, she just burns it off running about like a loon!!!
They have a constant supply of hay but are always looking to see if there is anything better on the go.
Does anyone else have buns that do this?

Bearing in mind that she is still a baby really I wouldn't worry too much. It she will fill out with time.

Re: Permanently hungry?
Yup! My two are like this! If I even sit on the floor near their pen they are straight over begging. Even if I get up from the sofa they assume it's to get them food
I've even had hubby before now phone me in work asking if I fed them because he's gone home for something and they are begging him for food
They seem to have perfected the "but I'm sooooooo hungry" look

Re: Permanently hungry?
Gizmo is the same - Humum can't put weight on him and he is an always-on-the-go bun too.
She's just decided that he has hay available and if he is hungry he can eat it.
The rest of us are quite a lean shape too, being English Spots. Rosie is a much more rounded rabbit and Layla sometimes looks a bit porky although she's a perfect weight. So some of it might just be genetics and the shape they are.
Is Nikkie's Sasha quite a lean rabbit?

Re: Permanently hungry?
Sasha is a very lean girl. She eats tons of hay but has a very sweet tooth. I can't eat a biscuit without her hopping up onto the couch to investigate. I have literally just chased her off the couch when she jumped up and licked the paper from a cornetto I had just eaten! If I am eating anything she will climb up me to get to it and has tried to even take food out of my mouth. She is completely implacable. Eating standing up is the only answer. She can hear a Kit-Kat wrapper at 50 paces!

Temperance is a hungry bun as well! I think I made a thread about it a while back. She has put on a bit of weight since being spayed but she still behaves like she is starved!
ETA: she has constant hay also

Re: Permanently hungry?
Thanks all I'm certain they can't be starving, they must just be pushing their luck But their little faces make me feel so guilty
Thumper was also more rounded before age took its toll, it makes sense that it comes down to genetics/shape, but she never begged for food like these two do.
Nickie, I remember Thumper trying to get a bit of toast out of my mouth years ago It was so funny, it was so out of character
And now I know where Junior gets it from I took a video of him with a malteser bunny wrapper a few weeks ago He's determined he is getting a taste of some chocolate! Unfortunately for him, I'm equally determined that he's NOT!

Re: Permanently hungry?
Smokey and Rosie have been the same the last few days, they are out all the time now they have their enclosure and running about playing alot, I get up at half 7 let them out straight away even if its raining I open the door, once catflaps are on I wont even need to unless they cant figure out how to get out. Feed them a bowl of dry once sorted kids and get my breakfast which is about half 8, get their veg not long after that nice mix of veg in a tub. They are out all day doing as they please till 10 in the evening or if its raining to heavy I will try to put them back in wee bit earlier so dont get soaked. I use a bowl of food to get them in, sprinkle it over the floor then let them see the bowl and in they go acting like never been fed. They didnt eat this much before but guess there using more energy running about, they arent skinny or fat, just nice.

Re: Permanently hungry?
Mines need more hay, ran out of farm stuff so had to by the bag from shop, doestnt last long, my neice says just get the cheap bag from tesco lol, nope not me I prefer the good timothy hay for my buns lol. Mines go through loads, but charlie hardly eats any, just nibbles on it, rosie is even eating the straw, shes always done that but she will eat anything thats there for her to nibble on. So reduced the straw in her bed and added more hay.

Re: Permanently hungry?
I had two girlies that were like that love, they would literally jump up onto the sofa and mug me. Sophie's face was level with mine and she demanded a morsel. Little Tammy was much the same only being a smaller bunny, she didn't find it quite as easy to get upon furniture. However she managed if it was something she really loved.
I hate to say this and I hope there are no chaps listening, but the females are much greedier in my experience, the same with guinea pigs.
I hope we have all managed to put your mind at rest a little.
Hugs
JO xx

Re: Permanently hungry?
My girl does seem same too, charlie and smokey not so much, charlie eats much less than the other 2, could be cos he is 6 months older than them, he was about about 4 months old when I got him in october so he is probs about a year old now, the wee ones were approx 8 weeks old when I got them in december. So they were probs born start of october end of september, just guessing.

Re: Permanently hungry?
I agree about females being more greedy. Gloria was the same. She hated being touched, but bring out some food and you could practically do anything with her! Food tart!

Re: Permanently hungry?
My two always seem hungry as well, I bet you yours two aren't starving they're just cheeky greedy little bunnies!
Rabbits are natural grazers so there's another reason they are looking for food.
Tigger is SO greedy. When you offer Jeeves a handful of grass he will pick the blades up one or two at a time. With Tigger she takes the whole lot in her mouth

Re: Permanently hungry?
Snuffie will be lying down looking every bit of his ten years until a strawberry or similar is put in front of him. He then becomes like 1 year old, eating as if it were his last meal LOL!!

Re: Permanently hungry?
Sasha also has a thing about anything coloured red. If I am wearing a red top, she will try to nibble it. Also goes for any red shoes, handbag and my cushions. Doesn't do it with anything else, only red things.

Re: Permanently hungry?
I wondered if it was an association with ripeness. Some kind of in-built instinct that when something is red it is ready for eating! This obviously applies to fleece cardigans, shoes and handbags!
