Cold buns? Empty Cold buns?

Post by ElleyMay Mon Jan 31, 2011 12:12 am

I can't help but being paranoid that Brynn and Hippo are cold in their new living arrangement. I haven't noticed them "acting cold" at all, but their ears are pretty chilly and I'm just wanting to make sure they are ok. The basement isn't super cold, but it is chilly enough that both Tori and I opt to sit/stand on the mat I've put out in the "bun viewing area." The rabbits are on cement with mats down, a big comfy bed (that would be warm IF THEY USED IT). As well as big cardboard box that they can jump up onto and get off the cement. They have a hot water bottle that I've tried in a number of different paces but they just wont snuggle up to (Brynn has kissed it a few times, and that is it Rolling Eyes ). I can't get snuggle safe heat pads here in Canada Mad and all the pet heat pads have cords.... which is obviously not happening.

Thoughts? Do you think they are ok?

They sound fine to me! Is the basement much colder than the room they are used to? If it is just a bit cooler they should adjust pretty quickly.

I'd say that choosing specifically not to use the warmer things - the big bed, the covers and the water bottle - means that both buns are absolutely fine and content with the temperature down there.

My two live on concrete as well, they move from the concrete to the carpet every few hours as their temperature rises and falls. Brynn and Hippo sound fine, don't stress too much about it Hugs

I think they'll be fine, after all rabbits are pretty resistant to cold.
If they really were too cold I'm sure you'd notice them slowing down, trying to snuggle to the warm things and sleeping more.
Besides, they'll be happy to be in the fresh basement when it gets warmer.
