What to use in the litter box?
When I get my rabbit I'd like to litter train him. What litter should I put in the litter box?
Re: What to use in the litter box?
You already wrote a thread like that didn't you? Your thread called "bedding".
If you want to litterbox train your rabbit, the best would be to put the bedding that was suggested in the other thread in the litterbox, and not put any bedding in the rest of the cage.
I lined Chewy's cage with lino, and the eating area has a wooden floor, to give you ideas if you want to line the cage floor with something. If your bunnies are going to be outside, you could put hay in the whole cage if it gets really chilly where you live.

I use Megazorb, it's a horse bedding but most independent pet stores could order it in for you. Real cheap stuff at £7 for a big sack!

Re: What to use in the litter box?
We use megazorb. We it in the bottom of the tray with a layer of hay on top.
its a good idea to put the tray where he likes to do his business.
It def makes it easier to clean out.
Training sometimes happens really easily and sometimes can take a while.
If you have any other questions please ask.

Re: What to use in the litter box?
Sorry, in the other thread I asked about bedding for the hutch, I didn't realize people suggested what to put in the litter box as well. Sorry about that, thank you for the help
Re: What to use in the litter box?
Dont apologise Alicia,
Please go ahead and post as many threads as you like.
There will be other people who will be along soon, with more advice too.

Re: What to use in the litter box?
I put cardboard in the bottom, meggazorb on top ofthat, and hay on the top.
The cardboard is a recent thing, but it's really absorbant

No need to apologise, it's great that you're asking for advice.
I just remembered your other thread and wanted to let you know that what was suggested there is also suitable for the litterbox.
I use aspen mixed with hay by the way, I can't find megazorb here.

Megazorb here too. A layer of that and some hay. Although, one of my new fosters is a little slow in learning so she just has newspaper at the moment and I shall be adding in megazorb when she finally gets it, bless her!

Breeder's Choice, which over here is a non-clumping, non- toxic cat litter. I put hay over the top of it, as mine will poo wherever there is hay, their only hay is in the litter box.

Re: What to use in the litter box?
Thank you for the help I was going to put a hay rack above the litter box because I heard they normally poo as they eat, so I'll put some in the litter box as well and look for some megazorb
Re: What to use in the litter box?
you can get it from www.thehayexperts.co.uk. They also sell the SS food and also some really good hay. I order everything I need all at once for each month to save on the postage.
A bag of Megazorb is HUGE and lasts us a good couple of months.
