Dexy, our special little Chap (Photos added)
My dear little Dexy, It is so hard to find the words, you were such a dear little chap, very friendly and loved your food with a passion. Your little legs have got weaker and weaker over the last few months and we tried to do everything we could to get you better, but yesterday when I saw you were literally dragging your legs behind you, I knew i had to let you go. We were never sure if you were in pain, but the vet said he did not think so but seeing the mess your poor wee legs got into with urine and sometimes poo and knowing that bathing them was causing you stress, I knew I could not let you go on like that.
This afternoon you sat with your mate Bonnie and said goodbye to her by cleaning her face. It was just so sweet and that is the way she will remember you. The fact that you did'nt even eat the banana that I had given both of you for that final meal said it all though, you had had enough. For you not to eat your food was something that had never happened before in the 4 years you lived with us.
We got you from the RSPCA 4 years 4 days ago, they said they thought you were about 18 months old then, so you would be about 5 and a half now. We got you as a husbun for Bonnie, who we had got from the Pets at Home rescue in Winchester. You were a lovely couple and have been no trouble at all. You both made us laugh when you were running free range in the garden, running around like mad things and binkying like mad, unfortunately you were unable to do that for the last few months.
Sleep tight Dexy, my special little man, have fun at the Bridge and say hello to Benjamin and Poppy for us. x

Oh Jo, sweetheart, I'm so sorry Dexy was lovely, & here's been here all along. His last moments with Bonnie sound perfect, but so sad
He'll be hopping & Binkying like a Looney-Bun at the bridge, I bet xxx

Jo I'm so sorry to hear about Dexy.
He had a lovely life with you.
His legs will now be better and he will be binkying wildly at the bridge all healthy once again.
Have fun at the bridge little man, I know you will be missed.

Thanks Corrina, when I was with Dexy at the end, I thought of you having gone through the same thing yesterday. I am sure Billy and Dexy will be running around now, with their little legs mended and thankng us for letting them go to be pain free at the bridge.Corrina wrote:Jo, I am so sorry to hear this, I lost my Billy only yesterday and feel exactly the same. Hi Jo, I am sorry to hear that Dexy has gone to the bridge. Judging the point at which you have to act is the most difficult thing in the world and I truly feel for you having to make that decision. From the sound of it I think you made the right decision. A life has to be worth living with value in it. Anything less is just sad. He will be happy and healthy again now and reunited with those who went before him - however he will have stiff competition for bananas once he meets up with Gloria.

Oh Jo I am so very, very sorry, you must be devastated, he was such a beautiful bunny and it's always difficult to know when the time is right but I am sure you did the right thing for him
Binky free gorgeous Dexy, go and have fun at the bridge, you will be all better again and will be running around in the long lush grass and binkying high in the sunshine, look for all the other bunnies and tell them we miss them, your Mum will look after Bonnie for you xxx

What a sweet wee boy he was - your tribute to him is lovely and very moving.
You've given him such a happy life and he will be all healed now at Rainbow Bridge.
Hugs to you Jo xx
