Poorly Greenfinches last Summer
Last Summer we found a lot of dead Greenfinches 27 in total over the Summer months and I got in touch with the RSPB and found out it was a disease caused by the Trichomonad parasite which lives in the upper digestive tract of the bird, it actually progressively block the bird's throat which makes the bird unable to swallow food, and so it dies of starvation.
Birds with this disease look fluffed up and ill, they will drool and usually have a mouth full of food.
When Mike found these birds in the garden they had peanuts stuck in their mouths and Mike was trying to get them out ( which he did ) of course we didn't know then what the real problem was.
And after it flew off
Another Greenfinch needing help
This one was very weak and Mike gave it some water from a syringe.

That is such a shame. Horrible to know that there is nothing you can do for them and that the end is inevitable. I love Greenfinches because they are such characters.

Oh gosh, how sad.
Well done for helping them though. Poor wee mites.
