Sandy not well u/d dead

Sandy was such a lovely natured gentlebun, who will be sorely missed. xx

Been back to vets to collect Sandy and had another consultation with vet as I still had questions that I hadn't thought to ask last night. She thinks that the lung damage was due to pneumonia beginning resulting from the pasturella in mouth. The small area of necrosis on liver (which was size of pin head) was not consistent with anything they could think of and therefore slightly baffling. She also said that he had bruising to the gut although there was food all the way along the intestine. I asked if he could have sustained any injury but she said there were no signs that would point to that. All in all it was confusing but has at least given us answers as to why he went the way he did. It is just so sad.

Charlotte, just because this was flagged whilst I was Googling a few key-terms I thought you might want to read it as it talks about lung hemorrhages, gut bruising and liver damage....and also food spoiling in extreme hot weather spells.

I'm not suggesting that it is definitely this that caused Sandy's issues but it's interesting all the same:

Thanks so much Sooz I have binned all the food and hay that I had and we have started from scratch. Everything has been scrubbed and it also sparked a mass clear out of the shed as Yodaphine and her fantastic fella Ryan were here and helped me with my immense fear of spiders and lack of common sense when it comes to anything to do with practical things. Ratty and Bella supervised and Easter made a forced appearance which didn't please her or Ryan who wasn't aware that she was in the shed! He thought a huge rat had shot out!

Sandy has also been laid to rest this afternoon. I guess we will never conclusively know the true cause of Sandy's passing. Apart from the fact that we know it was not the anaesthetic. Much relieved.

Just can't believe I have lost him you know. Chance, it was easier to deal with, cos of his age but Sandy still should have had some time left in him. I guess not
