Fireworks! not fires!
If they are worried bu them (mine aren't) just try to put them somewhere as insulated from the noise and flashes as possible. Feed some chamomile to help calm them.

I know it sounds miserable but I just dont see the point. They are just a right royal pain.

Re: Fireworks
I think it should be illegal to sell them and all displays should be done by professionals. So many fireworks get thrown about by stupid teenagers who don't know that they are literally playing with fire. Just crazy.

I was once in a firework accident, professional display gone wrong and a fireball flew at us right near where we were standing. I reassure my buns, well Rudy actually the OH does that he rushes in picks him up "Poor Rudy, he's scared"

Re: Fireworks
I had to have my old horse of 22 years pts on November 5th 1988 people were setting off fireworks and celebrating and me and all the girls on the yard at the time were so sad and even the horses that night were very still. So November the 5th is very sad for me.
I also woke once to find a rocket inbedded in our shed roof and there were 5 rabbits in that shed at the time
I will never ever understand why they allow fireworks they are awful things that cause awful injuries every year and the poor animals suffer.
We now have them going off at Weddings and Halloween and New Years Eve and weeks before and after as well

Re: Fireworks
I think you should have special training to set off fireworks, and I certainly don't think you should be allowed to set them off in your garden and if someone is having fireworks they should be forced to advertise the fact for several weeks in the local paper. We have the national firework competition in plymouth every year and it like other local seaside towns here set off their fireworks out in the sea which does at least mean you don't get them dropping on the spectators.

BTW you can get dried chamomlie in big bags for horses quite economically from country stores and horse feed suppliers.

Re: Fireworks
Flo is really spooked all day as well. Every time something moves she is off like a hare. I have just fed her a load of fresh german chamomile from outside to calm her. I will have to harvest and dry the plants soon.

Yea its for the best hun, and although they are probably giving you "the look" they actually will feel safer being all shut in - they will feel safer in themselves....it will be like having the safety of their burrow.

I swear Buttons is deaf, because we have had fire works going off all summer (the joys of living near the sea and people having their weddings here!) and he doesn't bat an eye lid!!!

Re: Fireworks
I'm going to have to go look for a chamomile plant too then because I think Tigger is going to be terrified. Jeeves will probably just sleep through it.
I've used the human Bach rescue remedy when I was quite ill, stressed and depressed earlier in the year with uni and everything, I can't tell if it worked on me tbh but I'm hoping it will work better on buns.
EDIT: I've just looked at some of the ingredients on the bach website. I'm not entirely sure if they're all combined into one remedy or if there are several different ones, but are they al in theory safe for buns? I saw 'cherry plum' and I'm just questioning if it's okay since they're single stoned/seeded fruits?
