Fireworks U/D it just got worse
Grr. Just had to run outside to check on the buns because there were some fireworks very close by.
I don't believe we even had any on fireworks night!
The shed isn't very good at keeping sound out, I could feel the bangs whilst I was in there. Poor Tigger was curled up with her eyes wide open jumping each time one went off, yet she didn't bolt for cover. I sat and talked to her calmly and didn't leave until I noticed her come back to normal.
Jeeves was more scared by my appearance than the fireworks and he just carried on eating
Anyone else had any?

We are fortunate to live in a Firework-free zone. I don't think they even have them in the nearest village 2 miles away.
Re: Fireworks U/D it just got worse
There has been a few around here, but Joey is indoors so it's a little easier to deal with. There are some fireworks that sound like mortar bombs...surely they should be banned?!

Re: Fireworks U/D it just got worse
You are both very lucky. I do wish the buns lived inside for this reason.
Next door let off some horrifically loud fireworks against our fence, next to the buns which then fell into our garden. Me and the OH ran down to the buns where Tigger was absolutely terrified, I sat on the floor and just shook. I've never come into such close proximity of fireworks it was honestly terrifying.
Took about fifteen minutes for Tigger to calm down before a Chinese latern came into our garden, from the same place, and got caught in one of big trees still alight. This then started to set the tree on fire but my brother and OH grabbed the hose and put it out. Said neighbours laughed, said happy new year and then set off another out the front where we have even bigger trees.
I've only just stopped shaking and my heart thudding.
If only fireworks could be for professional displays only and Chinese laterns banned.
What a stressful start to the new year!

Re: Fireworks U/D it just got worse
We are very lucky as we live in a sleepy village and we don't get hardly any fireworks what has been going off has been at the other end of the village and it's all very quiet now.
One of my friends in Sunderland has text me to say her neighbour has found a rabbit in the street and I hope it's just escaped and not been a Christmas gift that has been unwanted and dumped
Luckily my friend who has 2 bunnies has taken it in for now until she can find out who it belongs to tomorrow. Good job as well with all the fireworks going off . Poor bunny.

Re: Fireworks U/D it just got worse
I am very lucky that my buns don;t mind them but it did sound like WW3 had erupted at midnight, I was asleep myself but promptly woken! Will be going to check for debris later, we usually find some bits have landed in our garden because our houses are built in a circle, so things inevitably get fired in the direction of other people's gardens.

Oh poor bunnies.
I really hate fireworks, I dont even see the point! They should really be kept to official displays.

That's terrible I really hope Tigger and Jeeves are ok after that ordeal. The lantern setting your tree alight is just shocking - that could've landed on the buns shed And you got no apology, which probably isn't surprising
I don't mind fireworks if they are used responsibly and much prefer organised events, not set off in a tiny garden right next to other peoples fences etc.

Re: Fireworks U/D it just got worse
Oh that poor bun, must have been terrified. So lucky someone found them, it's just a shame they were dumped in the first place.
We did a debris look out today and picked up 15 rockets from our front and back garden.
I'm very lucky Jeeves is such an easy going little guy. He makes me laugh how nonchalant he is, but he did good looking after Tigger during the hell. Gave her lots of cuddles and kisses.
I would normally class my village as quite sleepy. Not a lot goes on around here and the neighbours aren't normally that bad despite a lot of balls over in the summer hitting our shed and run.
