So I managed to give our gerty a good comb through (the first since she has come back from the garden next door) and I noticed she has a bald patch on her about the size of a 10p peice its as smooth as a babys bum so I dont think its been plucked out, although not easy I could only find the one. Is this normal in lion head buns?

Where on her is the bald patch? And have you always had her or was she a rescue?

Reason I ask is, some of thumpers fur never grew back after she was shaved to be spayed.

Is it possible that it's a shaved patch that hasn't grown back?

Does the skin look flakey at all or can you see any sign of what looks like dandruff?

The only reason I say is that fur mites can sometimes cause baldness.

no the shin is nice and smooth, I got her from a lady who had her as a house bun. She looked like she was well looked after just had long nails, but well groomed and her teeth were nice. Ive checked her again and thats the only patch I can find its about 2" up from her tail and to the right near her knee. she doesnt seem to mind it im just a bit scratch

Gloria used to have the odd bald patch, usually when her mane got tangled behind her ears. I would tease out the knots but sometimes the whole lot came away and left a bald spot. She was very self-conscious about it! Laughing

With lionheads their shed hair sometimes gets tangled up with the growing hair and just stays in a knot. Gloria had very silky long fur around her face and it was a nightmare as she got so stressed when she was touched and would go into stasis if you annoyed her too much. I had to balance between bald spots or stasis a lot.
