Digging
Flora, i'm sure, is trying to dig right through to Australia
Her digging is getting worse
First it was corner of garden where grass doesnt grow so i brought 2 big old plantpots out the back for her to use she digs in them, plus she's gone back to corner of garden Now when ive come in from work she dug a hole in the run not as if she's trying to dig under it, its dug straight down
I'm now putting big stones over her digging parts to try to stop her and encourage her to use the pots which i dont mind her digging
Is there anything i can use a deterent?
I know its her not Flopsy as the tips of her paws, which are white, are all mucky brown from the mud

Re: Digging
You could peg down chicken wire to your lawn in the hotspots. The grass will just grown through and in time will root over the top.

Thanks i'll try that
Pointless doing it now as building work will be starting soon, hopefully, so garden will be full of holes from builders
Once its finished i'll put some down

Re: Digging
Oh Maysie
Ive been out tonight in the garden and threatened her
Told her " Aunty Maysie wont let you board if you dig up her garden so sort yourself out you litte Madam"
She sat and looked at me as if to say "it wasnt me mum, honestly"
Needless to say the muddy brown marks on her front normally white feet gave it away

One of them did dig a hole in our garden but then we have a lot of buns that dig holes in our garden that's why we have a big bag of soil on stand-by
Get a cardboard box cut a little hole at the front or side so that Flora can get in and fill it with straw then she has her very own digging box

Re: Digging
[b]I have put on many threads about Fizz who will not stop digging holes in the run every day I fill one back in but as I am doing that she is right next to me starting her next excavation works with not a thought for health and safety she dosn't even where a hard hat. Failing paw cuffs or putting her in stocks I have never been able to stop her. I have now decided to re turf (again after only 5 months) the entire run and put mesh on top of the turf I think its the only way to stop her

Re: Digging
Oh it will have been "madam"
Sorry for that
Ive put a huge carboard box in their run with their tunnels going in and out of, as i normally do, but madam has ignored the box full of hay and has dug up a hole right next to it
I have a right little madam on my hands
Im not used to a naughty bun

Re: Digging
Mine first doe did that and I ended up with a HUGE burrow that they used to go down into for a snooze in the afternoon or when they got a fright. Used to scare me the death the first time as I thought they had both escaped!
Could you not let her keep her burrow as it is obviously a need she has to fulfil? Or is it in a really stupid place.

Re: Digging
Its smack bang in middle of their run funny but its the place where grass didnt grow, she never digs the grass just the baldy areas
I think i'll let her keep it then she might not dig anymore, i'll just push the earth back in so she can dig it back out, might keep her out of mischief

Re: Digging
Oooh ive now got a sneaky digger
Pushed all the earth back into the hole at teatime then we all went to mums for a takeaway, was only gone a couple of hours yet when i returned she'd re-dug her hole
Ive never actually caught her in the act, well only in her flowerpots, so my camera is now on charge to capture the moment
Naughty cheeky bun, looks like butter wouldnt melt

Re: Digging
And can someone tell me why there is never enough earth in the pile to completely fill the hole?

Re: Digging
Maybe we should just get them builders hats and vis vests and rent them out to excavation projects
It's only a matter of time before Jeeves starts digging in the run, he's perfectly happy with the toilet at the moment though.
