Some advice about digging box?
Hey all. I would like the guys to have a digging box in their run that I can hidE food in and stuff, what sort of box is best and what should I put in it? Mud? Bark? I don't want itto be something that gets waterlogged etc - any ideas?

Re: Some advice about digging box?
what about a covered cat litter tray like you use for daisy? then it has a lid for a bit of extra protection.
As for filling i think there are lots of alternatives, Marsh has a box filled with shredded paper he loves digging, sleeping and destroying the box from the inside

We alternate between dirt and bark chips (untreated) That being said - we dont until spring, because everything gets waterlogged!

I've heard that shredded paper is wonderful for this. We are going to make one for Thumper in a week or so. He's gotten so big that we keep having to get a bigger box and more shredded paper!
We bought him the large maze haven from Binky Bunny for Christmas and are considering loosely stuffing it with the shredded paper. He's a digger so this might be a good option,

I put shredded paper in the litter trays, and Dougal loves digging in it I think I might give him a box full of it and see what he does!

We use hooded cat litters and just fill them with straw or hay, this was for house bunnies else outside I think I would fill it with soil as it's usually doe's that love to dig and they love to dig in soil.

Re: Some advice about digging box?
I have a large plastic box for a digging box with a lid and a hole cut in the side. It has yesterday news litter inside it. They love digging in it for food. I guess it you had a lidded box outside filled with litter the worst that could happen would be that the rain got in and the litter expanded.

Do you know what Katie, they will just dig in the garden even if they have a box!
I think alternating materials is a good idea because bark chips will blow away when it is windy and be all over your garden.

Shhhhhhh Ive told Matt they wont!
Weirdly its Charlie that is loving digging. For Annabelle it would mean she would have to stop stuffing her face for five seconds and thats just not going to happen!
