Moody Joey :(
Micro Joe has turned into a right grump these past two weeks - moody, scared and doesn't seem to want any company from us. He was neutered about three weeks ago and before this is loved kisses, nose rubs, cuddles and playing. It's like he's had a personality change and feels like he's lost trust in us. He also keeps bolting, so I suppose like he feels he's in danger
Sounds weird but I can actually *feel* unfriendly vibes from him
Today he was offered a nuggie and he flounced off with a foot flick, same with a head rub - managed a few seconds before getting another foot flick.
I know they become less 'obsessed' with you after neutering, but it's like he's not the same bun. Does this reaction sound normal after neutering and more of a behaviour issue rather than health related?

Re: Moody Joey :(
yeah it does sound normal. It can take about 6 weeks for hormones to settle and to get your old bun back.

Re: Moody Joey :(
It took mine about a year to settle down, he was neutered very late tho as a rescue rabbit so that's not the norm but he is so friendly now.
I'd be pretty upset if I was a happy male rabbit one day and de-plummed the next! He will love you again, take heart. I now what you mean tho it is horrible when they seem to be glaring at you and radiating unfriendly-ness. Persevere chicken xx

Thanks Hoppers, I will keep you updated.

Re: Moody Joey :(
Yea Buttons was like this after being neutered, he was horrible and no the cutie i had brought home, but after a couple of weeks he became loving again!! don't worry it is a natural phase that will pass!! just keep sitting on the floor (with a book or on your laptop) so he can wander over to you on his own accord without feeling pressured by you watching him or anything! that's what i did and now he follows me everywhere!!

Re: Moody Joey :(
After Flopsy was neutered and he was still in the house he bit me sank his teeth right into my thigh
Guess this was payback for what he'd gone through
He soon chirped up

It's not how he is seeing it at the minute, I've apparently done something very bad to his prize plums and I think he will be onto the RSCPA very soon
