The New Outdoor Hutch
Smokey and Peanut Butter are doing great, Ive been super busy with work, family and hunting season. But the wife started buggin me about getting the buns out of the house. She was getting tired of cleaning the kitchen every day (even though I did it 95% of the time ) So I worked around the weather and got to work on it. It is 6 ft long, the run is 3ft high by 6ft long by 38 in wide. the diminsions of the hutch are pretty much the same but is only 28 in high in the front, and 24 in high in the rear.
My wife and I agreed that we didnt want to have to bend over to clean the hutch, which is why we decided to add the extra foot to the height of it.
the run.

I added poop chute's to aid in cleaning. they work pretty well I might add.

Re: The New Outdoor Hutch
I connected the panels with 2x4 joints on the outside ( to reduce chewable wood surface)
The whole Hutch is able to be lifted up off of the top of the run. for replacement of the hutch when it is eventually needed.

Re: The New Outdoor Hutch
The finished poop chute's... There is one in the nest or and two in the main area.
They work pretty well for getting the pellets out of the cage.

Re: The New Outdoor Hutch
I didnt take a picture of it, but I made a false roof in the nest box, then I put straw on top of that to help insulate them for the colder nights.
The kids, being kids named the rooms of the hutch I actually kinda like it...
the run is the Basement, the main area is the living room and the nest box is the bedroom. lol
I have to admit Ive been using the terms too, lol
The buns seem to enjoy their new home and love to kick the straw out of the bedroom into the living room. They spend a lot of time in the run as well.
Merry Christmas to all you in-case I don't talk to you before this weekend.
Hope everyone has a safe and memorable holiday weekend.

Re: The New Outdoor Hutch
I like the poop shute idea, my aviarys can be propped up with a small peice of wood so I can blast them with the hose pipe to clean the floors and it does make things easier. It's a great idea
