i thought torching them to find the quick would be easy..... NOOOO!! I looked at total doofus while Carlton glared at like I was putting fingers up his bum or something!

Yes, I clip clip clipparooed! He did take it quite well, although we counted 4 foot flicks afterwards! Ryan held him in a "burrito", I wouldn't have been able to do it alone!

oh laura this thread has had me in tears - although i do think you are very brave for cutting dark bunneh nails - i make the vet do Lola's (she's a giant bunsters so her foot flicks normally wind me!)

Well done you! I keep eyeing up BJ's black claws and hoping the shed floor will wear them down. Did you even clip the dew claws, they always terrify me.

which are the dew ones? i did them all, 5 at the front, four at the back... or is it the other way round?! I was panicking on every nail, although I could *just about* make the quick out, I was terrified something would go wrong and I'd snip through the quick!

I cleaned his scent glands afterwards too! Not too messy down there but Ran was heaving!

Poor Ryan. I guess cleaning out bunny scent glands sorts out the men from the boys!

The dew claws are the ones on the inside of the paw and higher up. I hate trying to get to these, particularly Herbie who puts up a huge fight even wrapped in a towel and will not tolerate being held upside down.

I thought they were those ones. He was a little wriggly when I got my mitts on them but I snipped 'em fine!

Both my bunnies have black claws and they have them checked at every visit for trimming.. Pickles are very thick but dont grow so much, but Twinkle's are razor sharp and thin and grow so quick... she has multicoloured nails, some black some white, some half and half!!

Thankfully mine all have white nails so I can see, Shambles the dog is another matter and has one foot of black nails!

Oooh yes, black rabbit claws are a nightmare especially the dew claw

I always found it hard when I had my black buns....fiddly little things. Infact all my buns now have black nails but using the "burrito" technique I manage it.
