Re: George needed a dental
Not good. Im waiting for the vet to ring me back. he's stopped eating totally, and isn't pooing either. Tried him on all sorts of goodies, including dandelion and parsley, chopped carrot, apple, excel dried garden herbs.... nothing.
I have zantec and Emiprid (which I think is metaclopromide) but don't know the doseage for him.
He's stamping a lot, and sitting still in a corner. not a happy boy.

Weigh George first
Zantac is 0.33 ml per kilo
Emiprid is 0.5 ml per kilo.
Are you syringe feeding him every 2 hours as this is important.

Re: George needed a dental
He has eaten a small amount of veg and fruit. I don't think he has touched his hay, or his pellets, or his mix, (he has both).
He is pooing ok now.
Hopefully he's on the mend - however provisional vet appointment tomorrow for head x-rays.
Worried sick about him.
I have had too many bunnies this year off their food. (or is it that I am more aware than i used to be??)

What dry pellets do you have them on Jan?

The bunnies are on burgess Excel, but at the moment, mixed with Burgess supa natural, which is a mix. However, it is mainly excel pellets.

Re: George needed a dental
Is one better than the other? I'm new to all this. Both seem to be on the Good list - ie not produced by a company that test on animals for cosmetic or research purposes.
I can get Burgess foods from batleys at trade price. not sure if they do SS foods, but they might.
As a rescue, I always like to keep a supply of museli type mix in, as I dont ever know what my rescues are used to eating. But long-term, I like to get them onto a pellet.

Re: George needed a dental
Burgess is normally easier to get hold of so is more likely to be fed by the new owners. Supreme is higher fibre, but I suspect Burgess will be wanting to catch up with them soon. Supreme is also a bit more expensive.

We can't get a card for Batleys they say we pass 95% status to get one but because we are not an established business and we run our business from our house we can't have one. We use to be on the rescue's card that we use to support but when they fell out with us they stopped us using it which was up to them but 12 of our rabbits came from that rescue. I think what hurt the most she told the manager that we had been using her card without permission which was not true but we put him right. We mainly bought stuff for the rabbits and it was a big help but we get some of our stuff now from Supreme. We were spending over £100 a time when we use to go to Batley's so it's their loss.
We changed all our buns from Burgess to SS and we haven't had as many dirty bottoms since. They are both good but we prefer SS.

Re: George needed a dental
He ate well during last night - empty dish this morning. During today he has eaten a little, but mostly trashed his pen. His favorite trick at the moment is hiding his food dishes under his upturned litter tray.
However, I think he is on the mend.

Re: George needed a dental
Thanks folks. he seems to be eating more at night than during daylight hours - and whenever I look in on him, he moves as far away from his food dish as he possibly can (and thumps)
He has trashed his cage again - Throwing all his toys about and overturning his litter tray.
I am pretty sure he is "getting there", although he is still trying to worry me.

Re: George needed a dental
Sounds like George is doing better! Throwing a little temper tantrum it sounds like upturning everything. I'm sure he'll be good as new in a few more days.
More positive vibes on the way! A for you and a gentle nose rub for
