i think magnum is poorly??? Help please u/d magnums gone.
hi every1
sorry i have been away a while, been stupidly busy with work and other things going on in my life, but i had to come on as i need advise.
I think magnum is ill, he's definately not himself. He was bouncing about this morning and seemed ok, he has been sleeping altho not as deep sleep as usual. He usually sleeps sprawled out on his side under the sofa, but unfortunately we had to get rid of his sofa last night as the spring had gone and were a danger to magnum. So today he's been under the table, he seemed to be sleeping but not a deep sleep and never relaxed enogh
I came home from work and found him sleeping in his litter tray, i PICK him up, something magnum never does and he didnt struggle. Ive offered him some greens, he has fresh water with pro-c in and hay. He has had a pick at his greens and a few sips of water, but hasnt eaten them all like he usually would, i also offered carrot (his fav but he's refused it).
Any ideas....if he's not his bouncy self by tomorrow morning i'll be straight to the vet, what do you think it could be and how can i help him through the night??
Sorry for just re appearing and demanding addvice but i'm so worried

Has he had his teeth checked lately as I'm wondering if it is a dental problem with him just nibbling and not eating the carrot . Maybe he has a dental spur.

Re: i think magnum is poorly??? Help please u/d magnums gone.
no he hasnt been to a vet since october, which was when the vet last checked. He hasnt touched his carrot at all, just nibbled his greens. He is drinking tho, ive just heard him lapping at his bowl again, so thats a good sign. Just concerned about how tired he looks, its not like him to not put up a struggle when i pick him up.
Whether he's better or no tomorrow i think a visit to the vets is in order, didnt realise it had been that long!

Emma, I know this may sound strange, but Magnum may be upset that the sofa is gone. It was his hidey-hole where he felt protected and could relax. Now that safe place is gone.
We had one bunn that went off her food for several days because we got a better cage for her. It held her bed, which she hardly used, and her litter box.
We didn't understand because she had free range in the house and thought that it wouldn't matter.
Hope he is OK soon. Sending positive vibes your way.

Yes I think I would get him to a vet tomorrow for a check up just in case it is the start of a dental problem.

Re: i think magnum is poorly??? Help please u/d magnums gone.
gentl i really do hope its just that he misses his safe place, we have another chair and sofa but he doesnt seem interested in them...he has taken to sitting under a nest of tables, so ive cover the tables with a blanket, to give him so closure and he has water and hay under there, but he's still just bunched up. His ears also feel cold and ive just cleaned his tray out and his poops look small and dark, not like his big brown ones. He also seems to have alot of cecotropes around his pen.

He sounds as if he could have a touch of tummy ache especially if his ears are cold and he has left his cecotropes, he sounds also as if he is dehydrated, could you syringe feed him some luke warm water, I know he has been drinking but it may not be enough. Maybe a gentle tummy rub and try and keep him warm and get him to the vet's asp tomorrow.

Re: i think magnum is poorly??? Help please u/d magnums gone.
magnum passed away
I dont know how he went downhill so fast, he was fine this morning.
The vet said to keep him with me as he had been nibbling and drinking, and keep him warm.
Im heart broken, i should have seen he was poorly sooner, he was only a baby, he was my baby

Oh Emma! Bless you heart! It's difficult to loose a bunny but when it is sudden its worse. The guilt can torment and eat you alive if you let it. I speak from experience.
You loved Magnum and he knew this. He loved you back. Even though he was here just a short time he got to experience true love and caring from you. He's waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge or the real equivalent there of.
Binky Free Magnum!

Re: i think magnum is poorly??? Help please u/d magnums gone.
I'm so so sorry Emma What a shock, and your poor guy
Rabbits do go down hill really fast, and it is always difficult to know what they are experiencing and how to act. It sounds as if he had an intestinal blockage or similar - his symptoms sound exactly the same a Bertie's, and he didn't make it either. If Magnum had been in that state for some time, then I doubt very much that a vet could have saved him - our specialist couldn't save Berts. Magnum will have been very thankful that you were there with him last night
All we can do is give the best life we can while they are with us, and Magnum had the best of the best, he knew lots of love and he was well cared for - that is all we can do.
RIP litle man xxx

Re: i think magnum is poorly??? Help please u/d magnums gone.
thank you for all your messages of support.
Im in total shock at the min, crying 1 min in denial the next. Ive just been sat looking at his cage, building up the courage to start moving his things into storage. I dont wanna and feel guilty for doing it so soon, but my little lad is so upset and its not fair on him to be seeing the pen. Hope magnum doesnt think that im packing it away coz im not bothered. Its completely opposite, before i got magnum i didnt think i could love a bunny so much.
I feel so guilty, if i hadnt been at work i might have seen some signs earlier, and could have got help sooner.
IM crying so much i can barely see the screen so i apologiseif this makes no sense.

If you weren't at work, Magnum would have had nothing. We work to provide for ourselves and our furries.

I have sat and cried with you as I was so shocked to see your update this morning and I think it has upset me more as I know Magnum was just a youngster like my Cloud was who died at 7 months old.
I could tell how much you loved him by your threads and the video and photos that you posted on the forum he was so gorgeous.
I don't think Magnum will mind you packing his cage away the main thing is he knew he was very much loved and don't feel guilty that you didn't see the sign's earlier we have all been there I'm sure and it just can't be helped.
I really am so very sorry
sending you and your little boy hugs

Oh Emma, what a horrible shock
I'm certain you couldn't have done anything more for him - unfortunately, rabbits are so good at hiding the fact they are poorly and then going downhill really fast.
He was such a sweet little guy, I really enjoyed seeing the pictures and videos of him - you could just tell what a character he was. I'm just so sorry you didn't get to spend longer with him
All I can do is send you some of these: and tell you to remember we are here if you need any more

Devastated for you Emma. Unfortunately, often by the time you notice your bun is ill, it is already serious. They just hide illness so well.
Please don't torture yourself with 'should have' because you did everything that any of us would have done, but it was just too late.
Sending you hugs
