Cheap willow at 99p stores
I dunno if any of you have these in your high street yet http://www.99pstoresltd.com/ but they (in southampton at least) are selling willow fences and other willow garden things for 99p - you get quite a lot and it's much better VFM than the pet store ones
Re: Cheap willow at 99p stores
We have a 99p shop, i always get the buns willow from there its fab! they do little fencing which is bendy and i used to put that in with holiday guinea pigs and they loved it because it made them feel more secure! the buns used to have it as a "jump" and would binky over it
need to get them some more actually! although last time the job centre was confused when i turned up with carrier bag of willow!

I know where I can find one, I was always weary about buying willow things not intended for buns incase they had been treated or anything.

Re: Cheap willow at 99p stores
I would say buy some pots and some herb seeds lizzi - trago sell those. Most of the time the pots in these kits are way too small. Buy a reasonable sized pot and sow your seeds and water them. That is all there is to it with herbs. I have just done a big herb seed shop for the buns to replenish the front herb border.

i agree, with how much the buns eat, that will only last you one dinner, will work out a lot cheaper doing your own

They do sell everything at Trago - but if you don't buy it when you first see it there probably won't be any left by the time you get back.

An even better idea is to buy some ready grown plants from the supermarket and pot them into a window box or similar, thats what I do. I getthem from Aldi for 69p each and plant them in the garden in tubs

Re: Cheap willow at 99p stores
Trago is a discount store in Cornwall and Devon (and in Cardiff I think) and it is legend in these parts. They sell everything but groceries. They often buy the surplus from the big stores and have to cut the labels off so you don't know where stuff comes from. The store near me and the one up at Newton Abbot are both huge. They don't get as good deals as they used to but you can still get some well priced stuff there.

Trago is legendary!
I was once staying in Plymouth with Paul's family, and one of his aunties rang up to say that they had 'such and such' at Trago, and within an hour, every car was on it's way to Liskard to purchase - it's a big Catholic family. I suspect that every day, hundreds of people swarm to Trago as a result of a round robin phone call
It even has a song...'You can buy your Christmas trees in July...'

Re: Cheap willow at 99p stores
I was thinking about getting one o them mini green house things, and grow stuff for the buns, but not sure where to start, what things are easy to grow, that they eat loads off. Mine love corriander but not much else, charlie didnt like rosemary or basil ewwwww he turned his nose up at them lol. I would love to have a little garden for growing stuff but my cats would kill it probs.
We have 2 or 3 99p shops, never noticed willow in them tho, but wasnt paying attention, what else do you do with them.

That is so spot on Jay. I have never heard that song before. I don't know how many times I have not been paying attention and I have thought the cardboard policeman was a real person! And if you go in summer there will be loads of grannies on holiday from Birmingham trying to buy their christmas pressies. In fact you won't find many locals there in July and august it's all tourists!

Re: Cheap willow at 99p stores
Love it Jay!! Ive never heard a trago mills song!! I might have to post that on Facebook as all my old Uni friends all miss Trago now they've left cornwall!!
There simply are no words to describe Trago Mills!! Its just awesome!! I really want to go on a day trip to the one in Newton Abbot!! (cheryl we should have a trago outing for all the westcountry hoppers!! )
and I have tried planting my own seeds of parsley, but they are so slow at growing and just keep falling over so Ive had to do this!!
I think they aren't doing well because I bought cheap compost from Trago!! In fact the trays, seeds, cocktail sticks and thread were all from Trago!!

I live so close to the one up here that a day trip to newton abbot holds no draw for me (and I prefer the layout of the Liskeard store).
