Biting Bunnies Empty Biting Bunnies

Post by Jay Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:06 am

Stewie has been nipping a bit more than usual recently, and in the last few days, we've had some bites too... out with the water pistol Embarassed

So I spoke to anne about it...who said 'well, yes, it's springtime!'

Although not actually correct, the weather is telling him it's spring.

I did know this, but didn't know to what extent it afftected buns, but alltered rabbits still produce sex hormones in their adrenal glands.

After a bit of looking around I found this on the HRS site: http://www.rabbit.org/journal/4-10/sexhormones.html

I was answering a question on Yahoo Answers earlier about biting buns, (it was an entire, neutered male) and all the advice he was getting was 'It'll stop if he's neutered!' This is largely but not entirely true, and it seems they are still likely to respond to the call of the wild in Springtime Very Happy

I suspect this also accounts for his recent circling and follwoing us around behaviours ... He wants us for his posse! Shocked Wink

It always make me laugh when people are surprised when I say Bruce and Flo still have an active sex life. The typical response it 'but they have been done!' and I reply if your husband had a vasectomy would you expect it to end you sex life? There are lots of little things that affect them. Rocky the lop next door is entire and Bruce and Flo are really interested in him at the moment. And Flo always bulks up at this time of year regardless of what I feed her. It is like she is psychologically preparing for a litter. And Bruce is far more likely to nip me.

Laughing Laughing Laughing I knew they got spirng fever, but didnt know how much it could affect them.

No wonder im struggling with Maggie. Shes not spayed yet and has been gradually turning into a monster!! I have to herd her around the playhouse with the dustpan when i need to get in to clean up, and its a race between the two of us to get to the spot where i put her food. If she gets there first, my hand gets shredded and nipped Laughing

Im booking her spay this evening. Thank God!

I didn't know spring still affected neutered buns either!! this may explain a lot of odd behavior from Buttons lately!! I just thought he was having a last throw out of his teenage hormones!! Laughing

I did wonder if Spring affected neutered buns because my pair have been running me ragged! They're full of cheek, loads more binkies and so much chasing between the two of them. (Not to mention the bonking) Rolling Eyes Jeeves has been getting a look in this time though rather than Tigger Laughing

It's funny, I never really notice any big difference in my buns during spring, although they can be a little more active when I left them outside.

Maybe Bruce takes it all out on Josephine when I'm not looking Laughing
