Buttons/Controls in threads.
When you want to quote what someone has said, you press the quote button. But what do the other buttons do? Esp the "Thank" button.

Re: Buttons/Controls in threads.
I don't know how people manage to quote a line, I have tried and can't do it so I end up having to quote the whole message for maybe one line...how do you do that? am I just a bit thick or is it cause I'm old or a bit of both

Just make sure you don't delete the [quote] bits at either end and you will be fine
It's pain to do on an iPhone, which is usually where I post from so I tend to just quote the entire post too

Where is this 'Thanks' button? I don't see it, maybe cos I mod?
The Multi quote button doesn't seem to do anything for me either...I will investigate

Re: Buttons/Controls in threads.
Ive just worked out...theres only a thanks button on posts that are responses to your own threads. So i can see them on here because i started the thread. Carla will have a thanks button on her thread about bonding florence with the rescue bun.

Ive had a look on that thread, there was nothing there to suggest that youd thanked me. I checked my profile to see if there was a thanked posts count or something nothing.

Maybe it's just not switched on here

There's lots of functions that Sooz can elect to have available, some are used, others not, but it's good to have them there if we need them.
We have discussed things like reputation functions, or advisor status etc., and we have to look at the social aspect of things like that. I've seen it on other forums where this kind of approach quickly segregates the community, by creating a heirachy of members that are perceived as being more knowlegable, or have more gravity to their posts. This can make other members feel left out, and as if their posts won't be given the same attention as someone else's. It may only be a small thing, but it's a subtle one.
Every members experience on HH is as valid as anyone else's, and with that comes mutual respect, and, if required, respetful debate. This is a far more progressive way of running things
Re: Buttons/Controls in threads.
I totally agree with you Jay
Bunnies are serious business and a function like that could have a detrimental impact when someone is seeking advice. IMO of course
