Guinea Pig owners please
Although we are more bunny boarding we do get Guinea pigs boarding with us and I'd like to know what are the best toys for them, I put in some wood chews and nibbling willow balls but the plastic jingle balls I put in with the bunnies I'm scared Guinea pigs will get their feet caught in them. I usually go for toys that can be washed after use.
They have little houses to sleep in during the day which they love but could you tell me which are ideal toys for piggies.
Thank You
xx
This is what I do for the piggy boarders, do you think it's ok ?

Re: Guinea Pig owners please
When I had piggies I used to find they didn't play with anything other than loo rolls. They do appreciate the places to hide though, so those little houses are ace.
That looks like a lovely piggie hotel, I bet your visitors are thrilled

The two coming tomorrow absolutely love the little houses and I bought the two big houses in the middle from the Burgess show as I thought they were so cute as they have Home Sweet Home written on them.
Thanks Carla I've loads of loo rolls

Re: Guinea Pig owners please
I would suggest a smoother ramp and reconfiguring the log rolls as tunnels - piggies love hiding and chasing each other out of hiding places. They are typically not keen on lots of open space overhead so putting the tunnels in the middle of the set up is a good plan. My lots also have a mini kong that I stuff with dried parsnip and beetroot treats and other noms and they like to use that. The ramp needs some grip on it such as textures vinyl or some horizontal bars but not gaps like the log roll which they can catch their feet in. They also really respond to having their veggies hidden around the set up.

I have lots of little houses in the pen for them to sleep and hide in, the log rolls we use as a ramp otherwise they can't get in the indoor cage which is full of hay for them to sleep in and I do hide little treats in the hay for them. There are two long rolls as a ramp and we have put them so they can't get a foot stuck in them by putting one slightly over the other. I don't really know what we can use for a ramp otherwise I will have to let Mike have a look at that, I'm sure he will make me something for them.
The mini kong is a great idea will get one of those.
Thanks Cheryl

They are good with steps Maysie - old phone directories piled up would do the job.

In fact when I think about what my lot manage to get into I would point out that you would be surprised what they can actually get over!

We originally left it and had no ramp to the indoor cage but the owner said that they wouldn't be able to get in, I've seem one of them jump in and she could have quite easily cleared the fences at Aintree she jumped that high.
We do have a step actually might try that

I've moved the ramp tunnels now as after what Cheryl said I had a good look and there were parts that little feet could go down and so I've put a step there and I'm hoping Mike will make me something else that they can climb on to get on the step.
Does this look a bit better now for them

Sometimes when you watch them you cannot help but wonder if they aren't having a stroke! It is such a funny action.

Mike made a ramp this morning for the piggies and it's attached to the step so it's secure.

looks good,if the piggies dont go up the ramp, try putting another piece of wood on it so they will feel more secure and they may think its a tunnel
