Excel Sensitive

Anyone else seen it?

I have bought some of the guinea one in PAH today (along with some cubes -vids to follow). I didn't spot the rabbit one but I understand they are selling it. Well the piggies went mad for it. It is 25% crude fibre which is significantly higher than most piggy foods. And seeing as they don't like the firbafirst food an alternative they do like is a big bonus.

the rabbit food is also 25% crude fibre although I don't have the ingredients list. But Bruce certainly liked the bit of the pig fod he nicked! And it looks as if these are the pellets that have gone in the cubes as well as they look quite different to the normal excel.

The key point on the packaging says that it is 'grain free' to aid digestion. Longer fibre to aid dental wear. I have asked burgess on their FB page to clarify what 'grain free' means.

Have found the rabbit ingredients now -

Soya Bean Hulls, Lucerne, Oat Husks, Wheat Husks, Sunflower Meal, Yeast, Mint, (1.25%) Molasses, Vegetable Fat, Cellulose, Salt, Minerals, Short Chain Fructo-Oligosaccharides (0.25%)

and the analysis

Beneficial Fibre 46% Crude Protein 13%, Crude Oils & Fats 3%, Crude Fibres 25%, Crude Ash 7%, Calcium 0.7% Phosphorous 0.5% Sodium 0.25%

Interestingly the ingredients are exactly the same as the GP version.

Talking of P@H, hudad popped in there yesterday to pick me up a treat.

He spent over half an hour going through the ingredient lists on each packet. He was amazed at how many times the first on the list was sugar Not just the P@H brand stuff but the likes of Burgess as well

i noticed it yesterday when i went it,my piggies love the excel pellets,i did try them with SS they had a few but that was it,ive tried mixing them in with the excel pellets but they is always a pile of the SS in the bowl i got a 10kg bag of excel so when its nearly finished i will buy a bag and see what they think of it

thats strange

Lucerne is another word for alfalfa I think.

There has just been a very recent thread about alfalfa. I will be sticking to the Oxbow pellets. 'Grain free' is a strange expression. I am guessing wheat and oat husks are not classed as grains - I am thinking they will be waste products after the wheat and oats grains have been extracted for other uses.

I find it really perplexing - a nutritional balance I think looks good but ingredients that I am less convinced by.

i did an order today online and ive ordered a bag of the g-pig food,i was going to buy the rabbit food one but it says "Suitable for rabbits aged 16 plus" do you think this could be wrong?

' Hi Cheryl, it is great to hear that your piggies and rabbit are enjoying the Sensitive Nuggets. By removing the grain the nuggets are now slightly higher in fibre and lower in carbs. The higher fibre content can help those pets who are following the Excel Feeding Plan but are showing signs of a sensitive tummy, i.e. wet poos or poor quality caecotrophs. If you plan to feed your pets with Excel Sensitive please remember to feed the specific Guinea Pig and Rabbit Nuggets, as they are formulated differently to meet your pets nutritional needs. Plus, lots of hay :-)'

I have now asked why the 2 ingredients lists are the same online.

i think the only difference is the vit' C i had a quick glance in the store and that was the only thing that jumped out on me,i got the rabbit ones and the buns turn there noses up at them,they get left,i did give the piggies one to try and they loved them,i have ordered the piggy ones online,just waiting for them to come
