My new foster hutch
My good friend Fiona donated this amazing 4.5ft x 4.5ft mini shed with permanent 9ft run to me for foster bunnies! (I am going to be boarding her gorgeous trio in there too ). Thank you so much Fiona, for your friendship and generosity
Funny thing is, i measured the space i had, and it was just the right size, with not an inch to spare it gt delivered today and guess what i didnt take the height into consideration and we couldnt get the roof on . So i had to take the fence from my side garden to my back garden down .
Kayla checking it out
She prefers the roof....
Foster girls Leisl and Gretl trying it out
Did i invite you in?

Re: My new foster hutch
Thank you for the lovely comments i think my buns will be jealous . The only thing is, in all my trio's i have special needs buns who would not be able to use the ramp very well, so it will remain for fosters .
I have just been out to feed the bunnies and both girls were in the run quite happy, but came bolting up the ramp when they heard dinner being poured .
Kayla (cat) is hilarious she wasnt so pleased with it when she rolled too much and fell off (this is her mid fall, check the face )

Re: My new foster hutch
I'm really impressed with that - what a fabulous use of space and they also get a sheltered bit of run
Humum says 'it's also just the right height for cleaning out'
How lovely of your friend to give it to you.

Re: My new foster hutch
Thak you all.
Sparky, its a great cleaning height, Fiona (who donated it) has back issues, and could not bend to clean a normal shed, which was why she designed this .
Maysie, its so perfect, and it will help more bunnies which is fab. I seriously did wonder if i should use it as a cattery for Kayla instead she did really like prowling about in it, but she is not a cat to be cooped up (unless its in your bag )

Re: My new foster hutch
I noticed the height for cleaning that hutch out straight away as I have a serious back problem and have been known to get down to clean out and not be able to get up, I'm actually in great pain most of the time with my back but I just refuse to let it get me down and plod on, my Sister has a crumbling spine so we are a right pair of bookends

Re: My new foster hutch
Great present!
And what a beautiful puss! Does she have some Bengal in her? I love Bengals, but I imagine one would get nicked and sold round here
Lovely for the foster buns

Re: My new foster hutch
Thanks Sue she is a bengal (all be it, not greatly marked, but her previous owner spent a lot of money to buy her to then seriously neglect her and leave her outside all winter which is how i ended up with her). I do worry as she will go to anyone (Maysie will tell you ) but she has a bit of a nasty streak at times, very unexpected and embarrissing (poor Virgin Media guy only wanted to say hello to her ). So no one in their right mind would steal her .

I just don't get it, I really don't. Why are people so ready to neglect/abandon their animals? I see it so many times when helping with Pawz - "owners moved and left rabbit/cat behind". Why? It breaks my heart.
I just allowed myself to look on Preloved for Bengals (they are so gorgeous) and they had one not far from us, 16 months old, free to a good home... I was so tempted, but by all accounts this cat was quite a handful (apparently a kleptomaniac) but OH pointed out that as we are planning a baby v soon perhaps a high maintenance cat wouldn't be the greatest idea!

I must say, Kayla is high maintenance in the way that she will steal (anything lying out, on your plate, in your hand), bin rake, meow constantly, knock everything over (not a stelthy cat at all) and bite on occasion. HOWEVER she only goes to the toilet outside and in two years of having her she has only caught one bird, which she carried into us, alive and unhurt, it was a very young bird, who we think fell from the nest, and simply got lifted by Kayla. The biggest problem is she is sooo noisy, and never ever stops talking, which is a bengal trait.
Good luck witht the baby plans

Re: My new foster hutch
Thanks
I've read that Bengals can be a handful! And We have 2 lovely cats and 2 bunnies to think about, as well as potential sproglet!
