Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
Why are piggies so stupid? The little twit has gone up the tunnel leading from the run to the playhouse and got stuck I built a bigger run for the rexs and attached their old run to it to give them more space. I have been putting Pip in the new run during the day so he isn't stuck in the playhouse all the time. Only the buns can access the run as the tunnel goes out the playhouse window and they jump onto the trixie hut to go down it.
Pip has gone half way up the tunnel and is stuck there. None of the buns can get past him to go into the playhouse so all are stuck in the run.
Luckily the runs are both fox proof and there is a roof on the main run and a trixie hut also but I cannot get Pip to budge either way. I sent the rabbits up the tunnel but they came out backwards after Pip chattered his teeth at him. If Pip does continue up the tunnel he won't be able to to get off the trixie hut even if he does manage to jump out the tunnel.
I don't know what to do. I keep going out to check where he is but he hasn't moved and the buns are still in the main run. It's dark now so I can't really dismantle the tunnel to get him out of it. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Oh goodness!
What a nightmare!
Do you think he could be coaxed out with a tasty morsel?

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
Is there any play in the tunnel? Are you able to pull it a bit more level so he can carry on up it? (I'm thinking he's more likely to carry on in the direction he is facing.)
Because I am a bad bunny, my first thought was to wash him out with the hosepipe

guinea pigs are like lemmings, so totally stupid!!
How did he manage to get stuck in it if the bunnies can fit through it? Or am I being stupid too

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
I'm guessing he can't get up the slope and is too chicken (or thick) to turn around and come back down...

Ah! Thick always goes with guinea pigs! But I do miss mine, they were ace.
Could you try and poke him out the other way?

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
Sparky, I did think of flushing him out with the hose pipe
Carla, he has bottled it half way up. The tunnel is quite steep - fine for the rexes but Pip has avoided it so far as it is quite steep so I didn't think it would be a problem. I would just move him about myself to give him a change of scenery. If I had a saw that could cut a circle I would lower the tunnel so he could move freely himself. I didn't think he would attempt to go up the tunnel but he has and is now stuck.

He doesn't really like me very much so calling him makes no difference.

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
The tunnel is quite long and is in an s bend shape to travel behind a bush. My set up isn't really suited to a piggie but Vince doesn't like him so he can't live with that trio instead which would be much better a set up for him.icedancer wrote:Ah! He keeps telling the rexes off as they try to push him out the way

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
Can you not put a Rex in the hut and get them to go down the other way? He might be more amenable to going down the pipe?

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
How long has he been in there? Where guinea pigs think with their tummies could it be when he gets hungry he'll go backwards out?
Although tbh, with piggies litter habits I think you'll have to dismantle it and clean the tunnel anyway as it'll be quite disgusting in there already with him sat there

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
Hermione managed to squeeze past him (god knows how) and then went back down the tunnel passing him again but still he has not moved.
It's my fault really, but I didn't want him stuck in the play house 24/7 and thought he would like a change of scenery and some sunlight to warm his back.

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
You're not going to cause him additional offence if you leave him in there all night thenVince the bunny wrote:He doesn't really like me very much so calling him makes no difference.
Maybe the hosepipe would work - not to wash him out with but as something flexible enough to poke along the tunnel to prod him into moving...?

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
Sounds cruel but if you can disconnect the hut end you can elevate the pipe enough that he will probably climb down - at least mine do although sometime you have to get the pipe almost vertical.

Have you tried yelling
"Pip you stupid guinea pig come out now"
I hope you do get him out, I'd be caching myself by now.

Re: Pip is stuck in the tunnel...
Just went out to check where he was and he had decided to go backwards back down the tunnel and was sat in the trixie hut in the run. Phew.
He was with Boo, I guess Boo must have talked him into going backwards. I often find Boo and Pip snuggled together.
That's a worry off my mind. I didn't want everyone stuck in the run all night and I dreaded finding Pip injured where he had fallen out the tunnel in the playhouse. Gonna have to find another way for Pip to access the run.
