bluebell again
she won't eat nuggies which she used to love she nibbles on hay a little and grass, she eats most of her herbs ie dill parsley corriander but has stopped drinking again and i am having a job getting her to have her medicin she clenches her mouth and sinks her head into her dew lap
she tries to hide in the morning and evening when i normally administer the medicin but eventually manage but she gets stressed when i do it and moans at me a little so i feel bad
now not only meds but water i am now going to give her through syringe so fun times ahead..
strangely though when we came back from the vets lst time she went straight to her bowl and drank like water was going out of fashion

Re: bluebell again
Has Bluebell had her teeth checked Rob ? and does she have a water bottle or dish as sometimes if they have a dental spur they find it difficult to use a water bottle due to the drinking tube.
You may have to try a 'Bunny Burrito' for getting the meds down her

oh i wish i lived closer to you as i would have asked to bring her round and you and mike could show me what i'm doing wrong or how better to do it.

I wished you lived nearer as Mike would have given her the meds for you, I'm sure you are doing nothing wrong Rob we get bunnies as well who will not take their medicine and play up a bit and they can be hard work.

Re: bluebell again
I would get them to have a second look at Bulebell's teeth. Before CHristmas Bruce had a dental and by new year he needed another one as a spur had re-occured. Just because she has just had a dental does not mean it is not teeth.
Bunny burritos are really hard to do on some buns. I always use a fleece blanket for Flo as she wriggles like hell and the fleece is a liitle ealstic meaning she cannot wriggle free so easily.

I deffo sounds like there is something painful going on in her mouth.

Re: bluebell again
What worries me Rob is if she has the start of a dental spur or her mouth is sore she will be reluctant to be syringe fed which is important if she is not eating. The slightest start of a spur can sometimes put them of eating.

the vet saw her the other day and said her tum is quiet and it should not be and is treating her for stasis he gave her two injections and sent me home with zantac syrup,
i have bought fruit and veg drink powder and using it now in her waters to see if it encourages her to drink.
btw i have bought a stethascope to listen to buns tums etc do you know what i should be listening for only i tried but think i'm hearing her breathing,
where exactly do you listen...

Re: bluebell again
Is she drinking ok Rob, I think her mouth could be sore from her dental last week maybe they just caught her when burring her especially if it was a cheek tooth at all.

Re: bluebell again
i agree with you as i have thought that she is sore in the mouth and is causing the problems with everything else.Tuckerbunnies wrote:Is she drinking ok Rob, I think her mouth could be sore from her dental last week maybe they just caught her when burring her especially if it was a cheek tooth at all.
