bluebell back at vets/update
took my poor blue to vets this morning i have also been suspecting she has a sore mouth or absys causing her to eat less and not to drink and is causing her gi to stop and go into stasis
i have relayed this to the vet and they are going to sedate her and ahve a look at her mouth and teeth etc and check her tum i took some of her faverout foods so they can try and get her to eat and drink.
they said the plan is at the moment for me to pick her up at 18:30 by then they will have a better picture of what is going on..
lots of vibes for her please

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
I think you have done the best thing Rob she can't go on as she was not eating there is something going on there and I've a feeling if I'm right she has another spur or they caught her mouth before and it's sore.
Sending mega mega Vibes for Bluebell xxxxxxxxxxx

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
vet phoned and said that they sedated her and checked her teeth and mouth and all is great no problems there at all they checked her and said she is quite well hydrated and is probably getting some fluids from what she has been nibbling so far but her tum feels harder than usual and did a scan and said that she is a bit fat so did not see any problems and they are going to give her jabs to stimulate her tum some antibiotics and zantac and she can come home tonight and see how she goes the vet said that she is on duty this weekend and if she doe's not improve with taking meds on saturday to take her in and they will give it her in jabs and then they are going to phone me sunday and if still problems they will see her and give her more pain relief etc as needed.
i don't dare to think what this is all going to be costing ...
so pleased she's coming home but wish she would get better

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
I'm quite amazed they haven't found anything wrong
Maybe it's just a case of she may be slightly constipated, lets hope the meds get her moving

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
went to pick her up but vet said she has started to eat a little parsley and grass and they managed to get 20mls of recovery food down her but are concerned that she is not passing anything so have kept her in and going to phone me tomorrow they may have to open her up and investigate further and if needed clear any blockage
when i went to say goodnight to her her right eye keeps closing they said they are treating her with eye cream as it may have happened when they used the gas on her my poor blue was excited to see me

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
You did right to take her back in as she's obviously not right. It is a worry but she is in the best place if she does need any urgent attention.

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
thanks everyone,
had vets ring this morning and she has pass just a little but they are very small and hard they said they syringe fed her some more and she got "very fiesty" with them but settled in the end and took the recovery food thats my baby i know and love
they are hoping she will pass it through naturally rather than having to operate to unblock her but will ring me later with an update and if she improves and starts passing normal stools she will come home otherwise she will be staying with them,
phoned insurance yesterday for a claim form as the fees are now rockrting and even after paying £150. so far yesterday the bill stood at another £130 before admittance for overnight so i'm guessing it's bound to hit around the £700 mark,
i hope they pay up my vets said don't worry bring the claim form in signed by mme and they will do the rest and claim direct and credit me if any is over.
so glad i have insurance and that my vets are so understanding and patient.

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
I'm glad she is bright enough to be 'feisty'
I've tended to hear good things about bun insurance so I wouldn't worry about whether they will pay - who is it with?

Re: bluebell back at vets/update
I guess they are giving Bluebell fluids Rob arn't they ?
I hope she passes something as well today as it's a big Op with a lot of aftercare, we paid over £400 for Rosies Op. The fact she's 'feisty' is a good start.
We use to be with Petplan insurance and they were brilliant.
All fingers and paws are crossed here at the Warren for Bluebell xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

All fingers and paws crossed for her here.
And I agree - pet insurance has been a life saver for us a couple of times. We couldn't afford not to have it.
