sorry not had a chance to post an update
well got a call from vets today at 7pm and she has been given top up of meds and recovery food which she was extremely not impressed with having done to her Laughing thats my blue
she has started to poo a bit more and they are getting a little bigger vet is very pleased with the progress and has let her come home tonight and so she has had fluids injected into her skin to help keep her topped up and i've got to take her back for 9am sunday to have some more jabs and more recovery food and they are going to show me how best to syringe feed her etc.
when i got there to collect her she was so excited and her eye is getting better too Happy Dance Happy Dance Very Happy
i think we may be getting nearer to full recovery Love Love Love Love
she is just nibbling away at some parsley as i type Very Happy

It sounds promising Thumbs Up

You probably know this already but I'm going to say it anyway Laughing The best way to syringe feed is from the side of their mouth because there is a space between the teeth where the syringe fits in nicely Smile If she's a wriggler, try a bunny burrito! (I think you maybe said you had already tried that but I can't remember for sure Embarassed)

Oh I do wish we lived nearer as we would have called at your home and could have given Bluebell her meds, fluids and injections for you saving you having to go backwards and forwards for injections to the vets.

It certainly sounds as if everything is on the move and she should improve now.

Rob if you have to syringe feed her use a 1 ml syringe as it's a lot easier to use and we add a 1 ml syringe of honey to the Critical Care or Recovery food and mix it in to sweeten it as they seem to take it better.

This may help you Rob.

We use the fine grind Critical Care as it's a lot better to feed to bunnies with it being finer it doesn't block the syringe.

Topping up those vibes for Bluebell xxxxxxxxxxxx

I'm chuffed that she is home - I hope she continues to improve and soon decides that eating for herself is better than being syringe fed Hugs

oh how i wished you did,
thanks for pointing out that vid i watched it before,
when i went this morning the vet syringe fed her and i see how differnt blue can be she wrapped her with her fleece but allowing her front paws to be free and started to offer the syringe at the front and then blue took it and moved it herself to the side and accepted the mix Shocked
i asked the vet about i thought you had to go through the side but she said yes normally but bluebell seems to prefer it this way.
she ate the whole lot of it Smile
bluebell obviously likes to be in control and do it her way Very Happy
she did nip the vet afterwards though Laughing Laughing
she weighed 4.1 before she fell ill and was 3.6 when she was admitted but now weighs 3.7 so some improvements are happening...

done her eye drop without too much fuss just a little whimper bless her, Love Love
as for recovery mix i managed to give her one third ish of a sachet this afternoon around 13.30 and she broke the syringe Laughing
19.15 got her to eat about one quarter of a sachet she then threw a mega strop bit a hole in the syringe and refused any more but she has munched on grass on and off most of the day out in the run.
i hope she's getting enough.
i'm running out of syringes but will get some tomorrow and will try maysie's advice about a little bit of honey in the mix although once she starts eating it she seems reasonably ok with it.
i think she's mad at me as she won't look at me at the mo Laughing Laughing Laughing

Just make sure she is getting plenty of water Rob although they get some fluid from greens it's just not enough. I know I keep going on about water and no doubt driving everybody mad at the same time but it is so important and can be the reason for so many things in a rabbit just lack of enough water Smile

i totally agree maysie and your not going on about it because it is very important.
tbh she has a water bottle and a bowl of water and i try to catch her drinking out of the corner of my eye etc but i don't see it and normaly would
i have however been trying to add extra water to he recovery mix and she is getting some that way too i also am givimg her cucumber which she is starting to eat.
i am keeping a check on her skin to make sure she does stay hydrated and this morning she was as good as gpld i gave her zantac syrup with no problems i then gave her half a sachet of recovery food wich she bit a hole in the first syringe Laughing Laughing clever girl knows you can't draw the food with it like that and then gave me a gentle little nip to say she don't like it but she took all the food in the end i then gave her her eye drops which she allowed with no hassle bless her Love Love
she's now hiding as if to say thats it no more for now Laughing

Sounds like she is getting back to her old self. Poor darling is hiding. Sad "That's enough, Daddy!" They do convey so much with their body language.

Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job with her. Vibe top up for the precious Blue! Love

well this afternoon would not take much from syringe but tonight took her zantac extremely well eye drop no problem but recovery food she fought me hard but had half a bowl and i let her have a break for ten mins roaming kitchen and she came and layed by my feet and then i picked her up and she had the rest with less of a fight so she had about half a sachet tonight bless her and put a hole in two syringes and her fleece blankie which saw the brunt of her frustration fortunately and not me Laughing Laughing Laughing
