She's also heard of an op where they drill into the nasal cavity and clear the infection out at source, then treat the cavity itself with abx for a period of time before allowing it to heal over. I'm not sure I like the sound of that
You could have a nose ring then

I'm not too bad - Humum has taken me off all meds and nebulising for a week to see how I am. I still have a bit of yuck up my nose and I still sneeze occasionally but not lots. I have Echinacea extract in my water, but I'm not on anything else at the moment. She's thinking about nebulising with saline for a while instead of the F10, just to see what that does.
My appetite is fine though

Humum nebulised me with saline tonight. As it's safe for her to breathe too, she decided to see if I would sit on her lap quietly for it instead of going in the spaceship. I did. And I didn't widdle on her once, not even a little bit
Now that I have lulled her into a false sense of security, I'm planning to play hell tomorrow night

Just a suggestion breathing treatment wise......use half normal saline instead of normal saline. It will thin the secretions better. Just mix half the amount of normal saline with an equal amount of sterile water.[normal saline is 0.9% sodium chloride(NaCl), half-normal is 0.45% NaCl]
I'm glad your appetite is fine. Goodness knows you need lots of calories for all the nortiness you get into!

Re: Some vibes for Sparky please... u/d 27/05/12
Humum used 1/4 teaspoon (cooking measure) of sea salt in 1/4 litre of boiling water then left it to cool. The recipe from is another rabbit forum and a theory mentioned on there is that the salt actually helps draw the moisture out of the nasal membranes as well as thin the secretions.
She has noticed that I didn't get a 'runny' nose after and a bit of a sneezing session, as I do with the F10 - it is a lot drier. She's not sure yet if this is going to be a good thing, so she's going to give it a few days and if need be go back to using the F10.

How did you decide when you were going to use saline and when you were going to use F10, Maysie?Tuckerbunnies wrote:We use to nebulise Hope with saline sometimes and she always seemed a lot better for it

We were using saline at first and then someone recommended F10 so we went on to that and we also used 'Ventolin Evohaler' an inhaler which we use to pump so many times a day into the nebulising unit she was in, our vet recommended that. Hope was so bad at times I think we would have tried anything, she seemed to always be worse in the Summer and spent many a day being nebulised over the years, sadly she died with pneumonia in Mikes arms it was awful
