A few years ago I was visiting my friend but she wasnt in so I thought I would pop to her mums house which backed onto her house accessable via an alleyway that went between the houses. On route I walked into a spiders web which was stretched across the alley. Well instantly I knew it must be on me and I looked down and there it was - sat on my shoulder. A big green and black stripey beast standing on its back legs hissing at me and showing me its enormous 6 inch fangs!
Well it was all too much. I started to scream and scream as I removed my jacket, and my jumper and then my top before promptly passing out in the alley.
To make matters worse the neighbours had heard the screams and came rushing into the Alley to find me in a half naked state of undress passed out on the floor. Immediately they dialled 999 to call for the police and an ambulance thinking I had been attacked. (well I had been!!)
With that I came around to find one of the neighbours trying to cover me up with my jacket......this brought on more hysterics as I tried unsuccessfully to say - "There is a monster on the jacket" and with that passed out again.
All the fuss had drawn a bit of a crowd and my friend now on her way home came across the scene, as I came around for a second time. Seeing me remove the jacket at speed immediately removed the jacket and explained to all concerned that she feared there had been a spider incident.
They called and cancelled the police and the ambulance, and I dont think I ever went up that alleyway again. (or looked the neighbours in the face).
I suspect the spider is still in the alley having now devoured several unsuspecting passers by.
This is the funniest thing I have ever heard. I shouldn't be laughing at someone being frightened but that's so funny I can sympathise when it comes to daddy long legs and moths, it's just embarrasing what happens if one comes near me..

Don't go to Ruffins house, Daisy is keeping one as a pet!!!
I'd have done the same thing Katie! I am terrified of spiders if they are more than just a spec. One of those tarantulas made it into the furthest point from a door in the house that I grew up in. It was a rather small bathroom and I was using the facilities and this enormous spider was hiding behind the door. I looked at it while I sat there and it looked at me. We stared at each other for a few minutes--then the screaming began. I frightened the spider I think because it sort of reared up on it's back legs. I just knew it was going to jump on me. The elderly gentleman that lived behind us heard the screaming and came to investigate. He knocked on the bathroom door scooped up the spider and took it home! I was so embarrassed.

Re: Do Spiders Binky
I have a pet tarantula (curly hair) called Fluffyand she is lovely. We have spiders in every room, some are bringing up babies and it is so sweet to see. I do however symathise and respect that peple are scared of them, as long as they don't harm them, they have a right to their little lives.

Re: Do Spiders Binky
I have to say although I am petrified of spiders with gangly legs, I appreciate they catch nasty flies for us! We currently have one residing in the corner of our living room..so long as he stays there & keeps up his job I'm ok hehe

Oh bless him and you for letting him be. We have those little Harvestmen as well as spiders living with us. I am not sure if the Harvestman is classed as an arachnid or if he has his own little category.

Re: Do Spiders Binky
I used to have a gecko and he ate crickets. Once I went to the tropical animal place I used to get his food from, and on the shelf in the corner I saw a tarantula not in the cage I got very very scared and edged past it to get to the till, only to find the bloke peeing himself with laughter as it was just an exoskeleton.
I felt like a right numpty.
The Mrs deals with all the spiders in this house. The only one I didn't want her to move was Barney the bathroom spider. Bizarrely I grew quite attached to him.

Re: Do Spiders Binky
Poor you Sue, I have heard of that trick being played before LOL!!
Yes, we have names for our spiddies too, Archie is our sitting room spider and bathroom spid is Charley. There are too many in my bedroom to name as they are bringing up families.
Ha ha Ruffin, split ends. Perhaps he hasn;t been using the right hair conditioner LOL!!

Re: Do Spiders Binky
no - the window one has moulted 4-5 times and is now the size of the spider in harry potter. the other one is already that size and only turned up a couple of weeks ago. there seems to be a sudden food shortage for them in my bedroom - the window one hasn't eaten for weeks - so am not sure if that makes it a rubbish breeding ground and they might ****** off elsewhere....
